Time is short this week, so I am sorry for the absence.
But here is a short video put out by the Heritage Foundation that I think many of you will find interesting.
I think all of it made sense, but two comments stood out the most.
1. Did you note what Rep. Allen West (R-FL) said at the 0:47 mark?
It takes five miles to turn an aircraft carrier. So if we want this thing turned around, we have to start sometime. We have to do it now. Nancy Pelosi and her band of bitter screechers will just have to scream how unfair it is. We have to turn it around or it's going to sink. We have no choice.
2. Did you note what Rep. James Lankford (R-OK) said at the 1:27 mark?
Every generation I have been acquainted with in my time on this earth has worked hard to make things better for their children and grandchildren. My parents did it for me, their parents did it for them.
Take heart folks, because this is no game. It used to be funny, jokes about politicians spending money have always been around and have been quite entertaining at times. But not anymore. now it's going to take men and women with guts to make tough decisions.
Time to suck it up folks. Time to see who gives a damn and who doesn't.

I like Allen West, he seems worth watching.
James Lankford nailed it. We are making our children pay for our comfort
West is always inspiring. As an old soldier, I can say from a military standpoint, I would follow him into battle and trust his leadership.
Lankford's comment was by far the most poignant. It was clearly stated and is absolutely 100% true.
Would you not say we should all be following the actions of Congress for the next months, if anything to access the success of the US citizen's choices this go around. It is comforting to see the freshmen truly get it, but what about those who will run in 2012? I would like to think they got the message, but somehow I doubt it.
I'm not exactly big on trusting a lot of people, and especially politicians. But I agree, West is someone who leads by example and says what he means and means what he says. I don't think he will be "changed over" by the corrupt DC culture either.

I have said many times in this forum that it may take a couple of cycles to weed out the misfits. It's not an easy process when the government has become so enormous and so out of control. Therefore, Rep. West's is an excellent metaphor for what we are facing.
To answer your question, yes, we must be following with much vigilance. But one thing we must do is not have unrealistic expectations. Stopping the Democratic juggernaut is goal #1, which is being met so far. They are not able to ram anything down our throats, unless the House turns on the goal.
The next goal is to gain control of the WH and the Senate, so we can reverse the course the juggernaut has taken us down. It's going to take a lot of time. But we must begin somewhere. If not here and now, then where and when?
I agree Sunset. I am keeping a scorecard though. I think accountability starts with We the Peeps. I agree, it's going to take a long time. I volunteered to help Mourdock this week. Time to retire Lugar. And my thinking is... if MaObama gets a second term (I never believed he would get a first... will never think that again!) it is very important to make sure we have a majority in the Senate.
