Predictions For Next Winter

Remember several years ago when snow totals were down from previous years and El Nino was causing less winter events? Remember how the Gore cultists said snow would become almost non-existent?

Have you noticed that every time there has been a Global Warming Conference or Summit scheduled somewhere in the world, there's a lot of snow, ice, or unusually cold temperatures to throw eggs on the faces of the eggheads who are perpetuating this myth?

Well, take a look at this article.

Climate change is not only making the planet warmer, it is also making snowstorms stronger and more frequent, US scientists said on Tuesday.

"Heavy snowstorms are not inconsistent with a warming planet," said scientist Jeff Masters, as part of a conference call with reporters and colleagues convened by the Union of Concern Scientists.

"In fact, as the Earth gets warmer and more moisture gets absorbed into the atmosphere, we are steadily loading the dice in favor of more extreme storms in all seasons, capable of causing greater impacts on society."

Most people who read this blog are certainly smart enough to recognize the pattern, and are fully capable of making the connection here. But just in case we have any visitors who aren't up to speed with us yet, I will connect the dots for them.

This means spring is coming soon and next winter there will be far less snow, than this past one. If only they would tell us that temps will get more frigid because of warming, maybe we could get another mild winter like when we had El Nino. (I know I am probably being greedy here, but you cannot blame me for asking.)

A Convenient Truth

I hate to keep harping about certain subjects when there are so many pressing issues in the news. But as I sit here knowing that it's one whole degree Fahrenheit outside, with four inches of snow on top of two inches of ice on top of another three inches of snow, it is hard to focus on Egypt's woes and the thorough and complete incompetence of this Administration.

Recently, someone I know posted on Facebook a picture of a marquee outside of a local Baptist church with snow knee deep, a message that said, "whoever is praying for snow, please stop". In my usual tone, I put up a comment that said:

"Tell Al Gore to stop with the global warming stuff".

One of her friends replied:

"Unusual and excessive weather swings are a product of global warming. Personally, I consider this unusual"

Well, I looked up the information that I could find about that person and saw she was from Bloomington Indiana, a progressive bastion of moonbattery and every whacked out theory known to mankind. So needless to say, it wasn't hard to see where she was coming from.

So what we can now gather from all of this frigid weather and uncharacteristic snow patterns in the south is, we are now supposed to buy into the new argument that the cold weather proves that warming is man-made, and we must act now or we will all be headed for a certain perilous future.

Here is an interesting article written over a year ago, worthy of a look.

The article cites National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) American consul at Norway, George Ifft:

The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Spitzbergen [an island 12 degrees south of the North Pole – ed.] and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures. In fact, so little ice has never before been noted. The warmth of the waters makes it probable that the favorable ice conditions will continue for some time.

Sounds like anyone from the current group of educated idiots who are propagating this lie. But if we read on we see:

Ifft’s report appeared in NOAA’s Monthly Weather Review of November 1922. Whatever caused the “favorable conditions” in 1922, it is certain man-made greenhouse gases had nothing to do with it, and the rest of the world went on with the political and cultural revolutions of the 1920s without noticing any catastrophic climate change.

Of great interest is Ifft’s comment that the unprecedented melting brought about “favorable ice conditions” everyone hoped would “continue for some time.” In the report Ifft also detailed an expedition made that summer which set a record, “sailing as far north as 81˚ 29’ in ice-free water.” Ifft published a follow-up report in the December edition of the same publication in which he explained researchers credited sun-spot and oceanic cycles with the “exceptionally favorable ice conditions.”

But in the present crowd of alarmists, we see nothing that would indicate a change of thinking despite the fact that the weather has been cooler than when this whole religious cult began. Nada, zip, zilch.

Instead, we hear the false prophets trying to rationalize their way out of their man-made farce, by now saying that the world will get cooler for a few years before it will get warmer. So in essence, the earth is cooling because of man-made warming and we must continue to invest billions of dollars in green technology so that big greedy corporations like GE can nurse off of the government teat.

Here's a news flash for anyone who is falling for this crap: It's called weather. And even with all of the new meteorological technology that is available, the weather man still gets it wrong sometimes.

In my lifetime as a person who is aware of his surroundings, I have seen a cold period in the 60s and 70s. I have also seen a warming period in much of the 80s and 90s. This was once known as El Nino and was welcomed by most people who live in areas where winters can be harsh. Now, we are seeing a cooling trend again. But just as soon as the next El Nino appears, you can bet Bro. Al and his medicine show will once again be proclaiming the sins of the world to another generation of gullible idiots who educate themselves from news sound bites.

An Unimportant Quote

Supposedly, this is the latest press release from Al Gore.

Last week on his show Bill O’Reilly asked, “Why has southern New York turned into the tundra?” and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question.

As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:

“In fact, scientists have been warning for at least two decades that global warming could make snowstorms more severe. Snow has two simple ingredients: cold and moisture. Warmer air collects moisture like a sponge until it hits a patch of cold air. When temperatures dip below freezing, a lot of moisture creates a lot of snow.”

“A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species.”

You see, this is why Saturday Night Live is not that good anymore. In the old days, they would have been all over this. There is no way this goes without a skit.

In just a day or two, the system that is slamming me with ice right now will be in NYC and surely the producers will find this quote very amusing.

But if that's not the case, maybe this flashback will help stir up the creative comedic storms (pun intended):

On second thought, maybe the skit has already been written.

The Prozac Principle

Normally, even if only for a few hours, graduates should be able to feel uplifted, optimistic, and full of hope at their commencement ceremony. But not all people feel the way I do:

Word has it that three people were hospitalized for attempting to hang themselves with their tassels, and mental health intake units were packed for the rest of the weekend.

Reverend Brother (and newly honorary Doctor) Al Gore evidently thinks it's okay to depress the hell out of these kids. The poor people are already in the middle of great angst, bordering on panic now that they must grow up and get jobs. The job market stinks and they are so far into debt from student loans and government spending.

Why not torture them? Why not make them feel suicidal? Let's just pile sorrow upon sorrow.

But in all fairness, it was the Faculty and Administration who booked this idiot.... and honored him with a University of Tennessee Honorary Doctorate. If they have any misgivings at all, it's now on them.

I even bet most of the students danced with glee, when they heard they would get to see the (ahem) "father of the environmental movement". I am sure, they even had a party to celebrate. But what they all got was the first hand experience of hearing the ravings of a real live false prophet (and the embarrassment that comes with it).

Friday Funnies

Michael Mann is one of the false prophets involved in one of the biggest scams ever put forth by anyone, in the history of the planet. Despite that little fact, he seems to find exception with a little parody that was made. In fact, he is suing the makers of it.

Someday, maybe we can have an opportunity to sue him, and his High Preist of Deception and Stupidity, Al Gore....for conning the public.

An Inconvenient Error

From an article published yesterday, we read about another inconvenient piece of misinformation by Al Gore -- the self appointed climate guru at large:

There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

Nothing new here, this is the same old alarmist propaganda that he has been methodically spewing in robotic fashion, since his loss to George Bush in the 2000 Presidential Election. But wait, there seems to be some discrepancy as we read further in the article:

...the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

So, a scientist would never try to pinpoint a prediction like this? Most scientists I have ever known are not likely to narrow their focus on little to anything, much less try to make bonehead predictions out of desperation.

And it is desperation that Al must be feeling right now. With the release of the CRU e-mails, the cooler than expected climate much of the world is seeing right now, and the defections of more scientists (from the "settled science" community to that of the doubtful), he's feeling the pressure.

Imagine the crow he was forced to eat, as reported later on in the same article:

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming.

Imagine the crow that must be shared with the world leaders who have stepped out on the limb with Gore. I wonder what goes through Gordon Brown's mind. He is the one who once said that those of us who do not sign on to Al's way of thought are like "flat-earthers".

Or how about Nicolas "we must act" Sarkozy? This is the man who once said concerning a deal on climate change, "You cannot want to have the rights of great economic powers that you are becoming and abstain from your responsibilities. A great power has both rights and responsibilities, and this point is not open to negotiation." (This quote is from more than a year and a half ago, but the same impatience is prevailing in Copenhagen today.)

Al doesn't think much about negotiation. Nor does he like to answer questions from skeptical reporters either, as is evidenced by this scene:

Body language says it all. He looked like Bernie Madoff not wanting to incriminate himself, on camera.

At some point, when does it become criminal to perpetuate one of the costliest hoaxes ever? The family in Colorado is being made to pay for their hoax, due to the cost of the search and rescue mission. When will Al be made to pay?

Waste Not. Worry Not.

I respect the earth because it is my home. My little portion of it has been entrusted to me for the days I am here, so I do whatever I can to preserve it. It's only right. I have to drive to work and various other places, but I do it responsibly. I use energy and eat food, but I do not waste. It does irritate me when I see others do it purposefully, without any regard as to how precious either commodity may be someday.

If there is any one thing I would consider a pet peeve, it would be littering. Maybe it's because I am old enough to remember the Lady Bird Johnson ecological campaign of the 60s, Every Litter Bit Hurts and Don't Be A Litter Bug. I do not accept any excuse for anyone throwing trash around outside, especially when (in this day and age) there is a trash can nearly everywhere you go.

But, time has worn on. Things have improved. For the most part, I think there is much less trash lying around than when I was younger. It's not perfect, there are still some smug jerks who are self-absorbed enough to think they are above the rest of us. But overall, it's not as prevalent in most areas, as it was before the awareness was raised.

Still, there those who are hell-bent on keeping the ecology movements alive. They have done this by politicizing these issues and by allowing their organizations to be infiltrated with Marxist ideologues -- along with corporations that stand to make a killing in sales from wind turbines and other "green" technology. They want everyone to believe that we are in dire straits and time for life on the planet will be greatly shortened, if we do not allow them to set policy.

So, hows that for a mixture? Anti-capitalists and capitalists joining together to empower themselves. Ironic, isn't it?

Speaking of irony, I happened upon this post a few days ago. It was put up as a sarcastic commemoration to Earth Day and I recommend you take a look at it. It takes us all down memory lane, to some things said to commemorate the first Earth Day in 1970. Consider these gems:

“We have about five more years at the outside to do something.”
• Kenneth Watt, ecologist

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
• George Wald, Harvard Biologist

Funny how we hear the same thing now. It's as if it were written 40 years ago.

We only have a few years left.

Time is crucial.

We
MUST act now.

Blah, blah, blah.

We hear it so much, many of us are already numb to it.

All of this translates to: "GE is ready to market its "green line" of products and time's wasting. Hurry before their stock takes a bigger hit." Never mind that the CEO is primarily responsible for GE's woes, let's keep manipulating the public as a smokescreen.

Anyway --- like I said, I do my part to take care of the planet. I just don't lose contact with reality while I am doing it. I do it privately and quietly, without public fanfare and I do not denigrate others who don't. I have found it best to lead by example, which is all anyone can do without becoming an annoyance to others.

George Carlin didn't get too bent out of shape over it either. Remember that this is Carlin and there are some salty words in this:

Overall, the message is clear. He didn't think the crap put out by Al Gore (and associates) was warranted, he just didn't mention him by name. But we do here.

Recently, the Goracle spoke the usual Gore-speak to Congress and many of those louts ate it all up.

But Newt Gingrich spoke to the same group of people, look what he had to say.

How many of them, do suppose even heard what the man said?

The man proposes reality-based solutions to the environment without massive amounts of regulation and government control. You'd think he'd get a standing ovation. But instead, they demonize him. How dare he disagree with the Democratic Party's solution? No Republican or Conservative could ever have a better plan, because it would reward rather than punish. It would use positive reinforcement, rather than negative. This would keep the government out of the equation more.

For shame.

Close Dilemma Of The Third Kind

I started a vacation I had planned a couple of months ago, on the chance the Colts made it to the Super Bowl. Those of us that follow the NFL, all know that the plan backfired.

I was to have a doctor's appointment today. It had to be canceled last week so I really need to get to it, if at all possible. The problem is the weather, there is a foot of fresh-fallen snow out in my yard right now and the roads are a mess. Meanwhile, we are waiting for word on whether Bro. Al and the First National Church Of The Planetary Thermal Message & Trust will get to preach at today's Congressional hearing on global warming.

So, here I sit on vacation day one and cannot go back to bed. I must sit here in limbo, waiting to see whether the doctor can even make it in to the office, before I determine if I can.

I truly hope Rev. Gore gets a rash. And I hope it's one that cannot resolved by over-the-counter creams and medications. (Of course, I am most certain that he will call it a "heat" rash, from global warming.)

A Climate Entreaty

Drudge has so keenly pointed to the weather forecast for the DC area, coming up this Wednesday. Ironically, it's the same day Brother Al Gore's traveling global warming show was to hit Washington, he is to make his case in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Now, you Gorites can call me superstitious if you like. You can call me an idiot, a heretic, or whatever makes you feel good. Really, I don't care. But as you do it, stop, give a little pause, and think about this. If you recall, this happened last year too. They were set to rip into this, full bore.

Maybe last year, you thought it to be a coincidence the hearings were iced out on the very day they were to commence. And if we are realistic, I think one could have safely made that argument back then. (I have seen some odd coincidences over my many years. )

Once, yes. But twice? Maybe, just maybe, maybe we should consider that somebody, just might be trying to tell somebody, something. It's not too hard to grasp, is it?

Folks, I think this is starting to look like the early makings of a pattern. So as I appeal to the benevolence and compassion of progressives everywhere, I would like to specifically ask Al's faithful to please lay off of this garbage at least until May. I, for one, am sick of this winter weather and I'd like for you all to shut up until it is over. The weather they will be getting there on Wednesday is the weather I am getting on Tuesday.

Is this too much to ask?

If it is too much of a burden to impose and not feasible at this time, consider that you do your argument and cause, a great disservice.

Sunday Reflection

I don't often mix politics and theology here at PYY, but this is going to be an exception. The London Telegraph has published a piece that warrants some consideration.

Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.

For the three significant respects, you'll have to read the entire article, and I do recommend doing so. But it's important to know that the Global Warming crowd has made this more of a faith than a science, which many in the group already spurn because they are not proponents of real theological faith, but rather adhere to science as a form of religion. They openly engage in proselytizing in a manner very similar to those that are in evangelical organizations, of which they thoroughly despise. This they do, despite the fact that science is not cooperating with their deeply ingrained belief systems.

This observation leads us to a scripture that is more than appropriate for this line of thought, it comes from II Thessalonians 2:9-12 and states as follows (emphasis mine):

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

In our musings, maybe we should consider the argument that this global warming cult is one of those strong delusions causing people to believe lies. I can think of others, but they will have to wait for a more appropriate time.

Why The AP Is In Trouble

Here is the story.

Here are the words they used:

Ironically, 2008 is on pace to be a slightly cooler year in a steadily rising temperature trend line. Experts say it's thanks to a La Nina weather variation. While skeptics are already using it as evidence of some kind of cooling trend, it actually illustrates how fast the world is warming.

Let's see if we can keep this straight, shall we? Cooling is evidence the planet is warming. In other words, because the planet is cooling, we must be alarmed that warming will destroy us all. And we must act now, no time to waste.

More Scientists Break Ranks With Gore

Sen. James Inhofe is a member of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which has a blog. He has long fought the junk science advanced by Global Warming alarmists and been the subject of much ridicule by those that worship at the Al Gore Golden Altar.

Here is information about the growing number of scientists that are beginning to see just what this movement is all about and are renouncing this flawed thinking.

The UN global warming conference currently underway in Poland is about to face a serious challenge from over 650 dissenting scientists from around the globe who are criticizing the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore. Set for release this week, a newly updated U.S. Senate Minority Report features the dissenting voices of over 650 international scientists, many current and former UN IPCC scientists, who have now turned against the UN. The report has added about 250 scientists (and growing) in 2008 to the over 400 scientists who spoke out in 2007. The over 650 dissenting scientists are more than 12 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

The U.S. Senate report is the latest evidence of the growing groundswell of scientific opposition rising to challenge the UN and Gore. Scientific meetings are now being dominated by a growing number of skeptical scientists. The prestigious International Geological Congress, dubbed the geologists' equivalent of the Olympic Games, was held in Norway in August 2008 and prominently featured the voices and views of scientists skeptical of man-made global warming fears.

I have noticed some things along the way and as usual, I am more than willing to share them.

For almost eight years now, the Democrats have used Global Warming as a banner issue to regain the upper hand against the Republicans. Gore immediately got onto this bandwagon not long after he got over his hissy-fit over his loss in the 2000 election and has steadily advanced this worthless theory as fact.

Take note of an enviro-nazi, sometime. Almost always they present the theory as an established fact and ridicule those that are skeptical (with some going as far as calling for firings in the discipline of climatology if they publicly express any doubts). They are so convinced and want the rest of us to be, they will use every opportunity to discredit anyone who disagrees.

Recently, NBC fired the Environmental Unit of the Weather Channel during "Green Week". Amazing, when you understand that NBC has been on Gore's bandwagon for years now and stands to make a bundle on "green" products.

The Dems promised to work on the perceived problem, if they were given power in both Congress and the White House. Understanding the night is still young and Obama has yet to take the oath, I have heard precious little about how huge of a priority this is. Certainly there is no sense of urgency now that they have won power of both branches - much to the chagrin of those that hang on to the Gore gospel.

What if NBC and Democrats (whose only objective is to hold the reins of power for as long as they are able) really realize this is junk theory? I am wondering about this for both reasons I have just stated.

If there is any validity to what they are claiming, it does not make sense to terminate those that are putting forth the propaganda. I would also think that if the core of the Democratic party would be crying from the housetops, now that they are the ruling party.

If any of my thinking is correct, can you imagine the fallout from the environmentalist lobby in the next election?

The Global Warming Regiment: Muster Formation. All Hands On Deck.

Global warming zealots have had little to complain about the past few weeks. Here where I sit, temps have been colder than usual with snow and ice mixed in for good measure. When that happens, they tend to get quiet (and it has been).

But today, as I type this, the temperature is a balmy 58 degrees with rain coming down; and I cannot help but wonder aloud what the scene looks like, somewhere, in in some of the offices of Rev. Gore's "First Mutual Church of the Terrestrial Temperature Escalation Securities Trust, Inc.".

Shouldn't someone be trying to schedule a press conference and/or a meeting with President-Elect Obama, right about now? Shouldn't everyone be in the offices, on the phones, on the blogs, and getting the message out that global warming is real, again?

The Signs Of Things To Come

Some of you may have caught this story, which took place yesterday in Indianapolis.

The Obama campaign says most of the payment issues that brought hundreds of upset campaign workers to the Indianapolis office Wednesday have been resolved.

Campaign spokesman Jonathan Swain says a few people showed up Thursday and made arrangements for payment by mail.

A few hundred people stood in line for several hours Wednesday waiting to get paid for working in the final days of the campaign. Many of those people said they were underpaid for the number of hours they worked.

I have worked on mayoral, State Representative, US Congressional, and Presidential campaigns. I even worked the polls for a local Justice Of The Peace race, when I was a young boy. I worked them because I believed in the candidate I was supporting, not for money.

I would think the thought of hope and change would have resonated more. I would think that these people would have been sincere enough in their beliefs that they would have gladly volunteered their services. But I guess I am of a different era.

But this story leads back to the prospect of a future with many broken promises from the President-Elect. He has made a lot of them. I cannot see how this man cannot help but send some people away empty handed.

And it's not just the poor masses (who were used to gain power) who are petitioning the new President for funds, as we see in this story.

Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection has some environmental advice for the incoming Obama administration: focus on energy efficiency and renewable resources, and create a unified U.S. power grid.

On Thursday, the group Gore founded rolled out a new media campaign to push for immediate investments in three energy areas it maintains would help meet Gore's previously announced challenge to produce 100 percent clean electricity in the United States in a decade.

Be ye not surprised folks - this man owes a lot of favors to a lot of people. Which ones get paid back and which ones won't, will be anyone's guess.

Now someone correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we just hear how this would be a different kind of presidency, one that would not cave in to special interests? In the minds of some people it will be, but in reality it is not. They won't pander to the same special interests as the GOP, but they will be beholden to their own. And this global warming cult might just be one of them.

Get the tree up. It looks like Santa Claus is coming early for some people, this year.

News In Brief (And The Usual Opinionated Commentary)

Klaus Wants Debate With Gore.

Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."

They should offer this on pay-per-view, I'd buy it. He's been offering for months now.

Al? Ball's in your court.

Wexler: McClellan Must Face Judiciary Committee

Gas is $4.00 a gallon and this bozo is still in the Bush lied, people died mode. And McClellan? Can't wait to hear why he defended for so long (if this stuff was going on).

But more than anything, we can thank old Scotty for giving Congress one more excuse to spend barrels of cash, while wasting valuable time on doing nothing. These people already spend more time investigating, than legislating, so what's a few more million dollars shot down the tube?

John Bolton Escapes Citizen's Arrest

Security guards blocked the path of columnist and activist George Monbiot, who tried to make the arrest as Mr Bolton left the stage.

Is it just me? Or does his name look like Moonbat, in French?

Michigan And Florida Cannot Be Seated

A Democratic Party rules committee has the authority to seat some delegates from Michigan and Florida but not fully restore the two states as Hillary Rodham Clinton wants, according to party lawyers.

Democratic National Committee rules require that the two states lose at least half of their convention delegates for holding elections too early, the party's legal experts wrote in a 38-page memo.

Well of course they can't be counted. When it hurts the Dems' anointed, votes can be suppressed and not counted. It's in the rules, silly.

Ask LA

Time for another dig into the old mail bag. Here's one that may be of value and interest to all.

Dear LA,

I am a 60 year old man and I am beside myself. Let me explain.

I have spent years trying to educate Americans on the danger we all face with global warming. That is why I have loaned my influence to companies that can help us beat this terrible problem, big name corporations like GE. These companies stand ready and willing to produce things that can prevent the planet from scorching itself out of existence, causing ice caps to melt, coasts to flood, and turning what is now arable farmland into deserts.

I have tried to warn adults and children that if we want to have a clean and safe world to live in, we must do something now. We must buy things that these companies make, so this horrible scenario does not play out in the next 5-10 years. Sure, I know children have come home crying hysterically after being taught the realities of this crisis. But we have to be truthful to them. We cannot lie to them, or they would never forgive us.

I know, I know. All of this sounds great to you. But here is the crux of my problem.

It turns out that the latest data shows the planet is not warming at all, it is cooling. All continents have been experiencing lower temperatures and the ice cap is actually growing. With all I have invested in this, all that I have banked on and counted on, I am afraid I am now looking foolish and people will not want to believe anything I say.

How can I get people to believe in me again?

Sign me:

Al in Tennessee

Dear Al,

You've already lied your ass off so much, your nose must be as long as the back stretch at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. So, what's another lie or two?

Tell them this:

Since I have been advocating to all about the dangers of global warming, people have responded. They are car pooling more and buying more products from fine companies, like GE (which "makes good things for life"). They are planting trees and demanding that car manufacturers produce cars that get better gas mileage.

Because you (the people) have responded so favorably, we are now seeing the global temperatures decrease for the first time in decades. That is why the polar ice caps are miraculously reappearing.

Good work for now, but we must not stop here. We must continue the fight until there is snow in Florida in the winter and in Chicago, in the summer. This is the only way we can be victorious in our struggle to save the planet from extinction.

Best of luck, hope this helps.

Your friend,

LA

Rising Food Prices Got You? Maybe It's Time To Rethink Ethanol

Don't mind me. I am just going to say, "I told you so", one more time.

A year ago, I first called attention to what a bad idea promoting ethanol as a panacea to the current energy crisis. In fact, I didn't even like it as a supplemental solution. Even as late as two months ago, I posted a caution on this. (Read: Here and Here, for both accounts.)

Why would I have made such a bold prediction at a time when the bandwagon was full of support? Because I applied a simple economic theory to the equation and couldn't come up with anything, but negative outcomes. That theory is nothing more than, the law of supply and demand.

I am not wanting to gloat or anything, in fact I wish I had been wrong. But recently, we have seen some of the outcomes I predicted would come to pass. Take a look at this recent article from the Indy Star.

Hoosiers are caught between concerns about rising fuel costs on the one hand and rising food costs on the other.

After years of generally favorable feelings toward ethanol as a "green" alternative to foreign oil, consumers are asking whether the corn-based gasoline additive is driving up food costs.

And some in Congress are now calling for an end to federal ethanol subsidies, which sounds like fighting words to many Hoosiers.

Living in Indiana, I certainly don't want to jeopardize the health, well-being, and economic success of those that grow corn. But I cannot feel sorry for those that did not think this thing through, before getting things stirred up. Now we have rising food prices in all aspects of the industry. Not all of it is due to subsidizing production of corn for use as fuel, but some of it is. And while much can be attributed to higher costs of gasoline in the transportation sector, it cannot be overlooked that ethanol has contributed more than its share.

Once again, thank the environmentalists that will not let us drill and steered the bus into another wall, by promoting junk science. Then, thank the corn lobby for jumping on the same bandwagon usually occupied by academics and leftist moonbats that have no other goal, but promoting the failure of market capitalism.

Playing The Global Warming Card

In usual predictable fashion, Al Gore and the "First Mutual Church of Global Warming" cult is claiming the cyclone in Myanmar was the result of global warming.

Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global warming activists, and it was just a matter of time before someone found a way to tie the recent Myanmar cyclone to global warming.

Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

It's kind of funny when you take the time to think about it, because more and more of the experts are starting to re-think their positions they signed onto earlier, based on data acquired this past winter. (HT for the article: Amerloque)

A notable story of recent months should have been the evidence pouring in from all sides to cast doubts on the idea that the world is inexorably heating up. The proponents of man-made global warming have become so rattled by how the forecasts of their computer models are being contradicted by the data that some are rushing to modify the thesis.

First step: Modify the thesis. Check.

So a German study, published by Nature last week, claimed that, while the world is definitely warming, it may cool down until 2015 "while natural variations in climate cancel out the increases caused by man-made greenhouse gas emissions".

Second step: Tap dance. Check.

While we still think the earth is warming, it could cool down before it really gets warm. Brilliant job at raising subjective data. But here's what cannot be disputed

In 2004 scientists from the University of Bangor made headlines with the prediction that Snowdon might lose its snowcap altogether by 2020. In 2007 a Welsh MP, Lembit Opik, was saying "it is shocking to think that in just 14 years snow on this mountain could be nothing but a distant memory".

Last November, viewing photographs of a snowless Snowdon at an exhibition in Cardiff, the Welsh environment minister, Jane Davidson, said "we must act now to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause climate change".

Yet virtually no coverage has been given to the abnormally deep spring snow which prevented the completion of a new building on Snowdon's summit for more than a month, and nearly made it miss the deadline for £4.2 million of EU funding. (Brussels eventually extended the deadline to next autumn.)

Progressive Man:

Ah, but you poor soul, LA. You are so misguided in your assumptions. That's in Europe. We have to take into account the entire earth.

LA:

Okay Progressive Man, you asked for it.

Two weeks ago, as North America emerged from its coldest and snowiest winter for decades, the US National Climate Data Center, run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a statement that snow cover in January on the Eurasian land mass had been the most extensive ever recorded, and that in the US March had been only the 63rd warmest since records began in 1895.

And

Tracking satellite data for the tropical troposphere, it showed March temperatures plunging to one of their lowest points in 30 years.

Is not Myanmar in the tropics? How about Asia?

Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

China is surviving its most brutal winter in a century. Temperatures in the normally balmy south were so low for so long that some middle-sized cities went days and even weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them.

How about South America?

South America this year experienced one of its coldest winters in decades. In Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918. Dozens of homeless people died from exposure. In Peru, 200 people died from the cold and thousands more became infected with respiratory diseases. Crops failed, livestock perished, and the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency.

Africa? Australia? New Zealand?

Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered.

I don't know about you all, but if all Rev. Al can muster up is a cyclone (against the backdrop some solid evidence that directly contradicts this doctrine), he has a long way to go to make the sale. If this had been a Contract Bridge game, he'd be set. His card was not a trump card, by any means.

Journalists are a unique breed. It is often said that it takes one to know one. And since Ralph Peters is one, he certainly is qualified to describe them. You can read his well-written scathing indictment on journalists here.

Bloomberg is reporting the dismal numbers from corporate giant General Electric. These are the fine people that used to say they made" good things for life". With competition unlike ever before seen, GE has known to be in trouble for some time now. This is precisely why they are hitting this "global warming" issue so hard, they stand to make a lot of money if the GW cultists get their ways. If not, their future looks very bleak.

A local radio talk show host has some interesting thoughts about poverty. In fact, he goes as far as saying there is no such thing as poverty, here in America. Read and consider what he says, when you get a moment.

More Al Gore Errors

Over at Fore Left, AC has a post that covers the recent report that Antarctica is cracking up due to global warming. The report can be found here at one of the usual biased outlets, CNN.

Notably missing is information that is highly contradictory, which can be found at Ice Cap.us.

As I perused around the Ice Cap site, I happened across ten distinct errors that the administrator of the site has found in Al Gore's weak and faulty claims.

Those that worship in the First Church of the Global Warming Junk Science Theory will not believe it. They have made their minds up despite the scientific evidence that speaks otherwise.

No, they will still believe Bro. Al and his choir of sycophants, no matter what the facts may say. But despite the fact that there is credible evidence refuting (or at very least casting some reasonable doubt on) his last best effort at creating a credible banner issue, the promoters of the Leftist political agenda will continue to put forth erroneous information, and gullible people will buy into it until the day they die.

(Many thanks to AC, for a stellar find)
