Another Blast From The Past

The 70s brought forth some great songs that are now stored in a dusty vault. This weekend, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites.

We kick this one off with a couple of Joes. Make that a couple of Jo Jos. Here's an obscure tune, featuring Mark Andes and Jay Ferguson (two former members of Spirit). This is Jo Jo Gunne.

Here's a Jo Jo from "The Land Down Under". If you haven't heard this one, listen to it. You may just find yourself grooving on this one. Here is Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons.

Here's a live version of one of the catchier tunes I have ever heard ever. Give a listen to Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen.

Laugh if you want, but there is one song by Cher that I have always liked. It has a masterful blend of lyrical imagery, music, and melody. It's not the least bit surprising that this one made to #1 on the charts in 1971.

Enjoy.

I love those old songs of Cher's. I enjoy the old Sonny and Cher show, all the wigs, outfits, so outlandish but for Cher it was perfect. She has been a great performer, has a huge following even today. I always liked her voice. When you hear Cher sing, you KNOW it's her and no one else.

This blog has CHANGEd? Some entertainment videos. The most entertaining one is Obama-joker.

Not really. This is the same sarcastic, acerbic political prose that you once knew way back when the blog was in its infancy stages. But it has evolved a little, to include a Saturday musical feature as a break from the madness that left wing politicos seem to create at every turn.

PS - I am glad you liked the Obama-Joker caricature. It is quite fitting, I think.

Cher ....I swear, as a singer, I'd have died rather than record that song, but that's why she's HUGE and you've never heard me (heh!)...
I'm with Debbie, though..I loved the clothes and wigs and all. Sonny stole THAT show, in my humble opinion!
The others are fun, I haven't ever heard the top video, I don't think.
thanks, LA!

That was their only big hit, as I recall. Jay Ferguson had one more (that I know of) as a solo artist, called Thunder Island.
