No real theme this weekend, just a mix of some good tunes I still can groove to on occasions.
We can open with one of the acts that helped define a generation. Here is the Scottish band Simple Minds:
Even Supertramp captured some of the spirit of the 80s. This is a brilliant fusion of modern jazz and early age, techno-dance. See if you remember it:
The 80s also produced a second generation of country artists, like our final performer. This daughter of a legend was probably trying to win approval from Dad, but little did she know she was carving out a distinct sound of her very own, one that would influence later 90s acts (like The Cowboy Junkies). Here is Roseanne Cash and what I think was easily her best:
Enjoy.

Gunny, I don’t think you should be messing around with the top sergeant. Moreover, your ‘visions’ of the top sergeant grooving are themselves a bit disturbing and not something I would not encourage you to share on Al Gore’s internet Of course, I don’t know what goes on inside the NCO club, but still …
LA … simple minds is probably a flashback to when you were a liberal. I’m glad you made the transition, though. Roseanne Cash is your best selection this week, I think. She has a great voice and the musical arrangement was superb. Do you know if she’s still performing?

Cartman, you little Communist puke. I traced this back to your IP address. I will be speaking to your mother, soon.
The REAL Gunny Asche
I concur with the Mustang's favorite selection of the week. I listened to it 3-4 times matter of fact.

Be careful who you align yourself with, Dobermans have been known to turn on their masters. ;)
EXCELLENT line about Dobermans, LA...sublime!
That SUPERTRAMP was a treat, one I'd not heard, and they're one of my favorite bands...the voice is there, but the horns were very different, great stuff, thanks!. How'd they get that insurance caveman in the video? :-)
