A Couple Of Links To Share: Friends Of PYY

Ms. Miami, a welcome frequent commenter here at PYY, has posted a guest post at Super Frenchie. She poses some questions about the social caste of nerds and geeks. You might want to take a look at it, it's not a long one.

Another well respected and welcome commenter here is L'Amerloque. He has a post with some interesting links (one of them is this one), as well. You may not want to miss his either, but it's a bit longer. Well worth the read though.

Enjoy.

Hi LASunsett !

Hey, thanks for the recommendation ! Amerloque appreciates it !

Watched some key plays in those two NFL games again. Perhaps Amerloque was being far too optimistic for the Bears, when he said "Bears by 10" ... (grin) ... will the weather be a factor ?

Best,
L'Amerloque

Hi l'amerloque!

I'm not sure how the weather will play as far as the Bears play. I saw a lot of guys in the Colts vs Pats game that went down with cramps because of the heat in the Dome.

I'm not ready to rule the Bears out. They were picked as underdogs to the Saints and that just pumped them up more. So, let the naysayers talk...the Bears defense is listening...and loving it!

Off the sports and regarding the issue of Geeks and Nerds...

I've never let the geek or nerd thing get in my way of making friends with someone. Most of the guys that I've met that were labeled as geeks turned out to be the funniest and nicest guys I've ever met. I guess I'd rather have my daughter marry a geek than a real good looking asshole.

To me, there is nothing sexier than a guy with a good sense of humor, the rest isn't that important.

I think I remember some movie called "Nerds" and the nerds ended up with the good looking chicks.

I am not sure how many more readers you'll pick up here or if you even need the plug, but you are most welcome.

It's in Miami, unless theirs a lot of rain, it should be a non-factor.

ME,

Not sure if it was the heat, as the Dome is not that warm (usually a comfortable 72 degrees). I think that the Pats were just worn down from their battle with the Chargers the previous week, and they are not getting any younger.

On the nerds and geeks issue:

I think that since the beginning of civilization, the "fairest of women" and "choicest of men" have been assigned a superior status within a society. That left the nerds and geeks to find other ways to achieve status, which they did. In this respect, this is nothing new.

I bet there are a few women that went to school with Bill Gates and wished they'd been more cozy with him, back then. In my own experience, there was one girl i remember from my sophomore English class that was not very attractive and if I might say, was quite goofy looking. A few years after high school, I happened to see her somewhere out in public, and she had certainly turned into a beautiful swan. Even though I never saw her again, it taught me something.

LA is getting senile, the comment to Amerloque It's in Miami, unless theirs a lot of rain, it should be a non-factor., should have read:
