Guardsmen On Border Overrun By Mexican Gunmen

I usually shy away from using links to stories on Yahoo, because the links go bad faster than other news sources. But I have to say this story is a hard one to find, for some unknown reason.

TUCSON, Ariz. - National Guard troops at an observation post near the Mexico border were forced to flee a group of armed people, who later ran into Mexico, authorities said.

The troops, who are not allowed to apprehend illegal border crossers, withdrew safely and no one was injured, said National Guard Sgt. Edward Balaban.

U.S. Border Patrol officials are investigating the 11 p.m. Wednesday incident and trying to determine who the armed people were and why they approached the post near Sasabe, in the desert corridor between Nogales and Lukeville. Balaban said the troops didn't know how many people were involved because it was so dark.

Well, it doesn't need much comment from me. The story speaks for itself. But I will say that with 2008 coming around and if more incidents like this occur before then, Tom Tancredo is going to have a rather large audience to carry his message. If we do not take measures to further secure the border, this will pale in comparison to future events.

Considering no one got hurt, this is good news! Let's hope it wakes up people in Washington to the serious problem the non-existent border poses to national security.

Next time it happens, I hope the toops fire back so we can pick over the bodies and find out whether it's Mexican gangs, islamic terrorists or someone else.

Maybe Off Topic, and sorry if I'am supid cause of lack of knowledge about an american problem. If I want to live in USA, I would take intensive Anglo-american lessons to speak fluently and to become a true american. I don't think it is the case.
