The first movie I remember going to was Thunderball. I am sure we went to others, but this was just my dad and me, alone. No mom, no little brother, just us.
This weekend we will depart from the usual format just a bit, as we take a look at some James Bond 007 movie themes.
First up. From Russia With Love:
Shirley Bassey sings Goldfinger:
As well as Diamonds Are Forever:
My very favorite 007 theme was View To A Kill by Duran Duran (live version):
Enjoy.

While thinking about my weekly music pick, I thought about the "Bond" themes ... amazing, huh? I ended up going with somethin else entirely by fluke. These selections are all exceptional performances; who couldn't enjoy Shirley Bassey?
But honestly, I regard "Live and Let Die," superior to View to a Kill ... if you like explosives, and I do.
There was an older version of Bassey's "Diamonds are Forever" that was from her prime and was simply amazing. Apparently they yanked it.
I've always liked "You Only Live Twice" but View was pretty good too. But I've always heard that Mustang's favorite was the Octopussy theme.
Mustang,
Live and Let Die is a good one too. The link you left was the tour which I had seen McCartney. I had to hit the concession stand at one point, that's the moment when Live and Let Die began. The explosions were loud, even in the corridor of Conseco Fieldhouse.
Actually, my favorite was Maud Adams who, in spite of her efforts to take advantage of me, I successfully resisted and therefore never made that all expense paid trip to India in the early 1980s. At least, I think that's what happened.
One of my favorite authors is John McDonald Fraser, whose biography "Quartered Safe Out Here" is one of the best personal accounts of the Burma Theater of World War II. He is also remembered for parodies of the British military experience, "The General Danced til Dawn," and the Flashman series. He wrote the screen play for Octopussy.
AC,
I never saw You Only Live Twice. I listened to the theme a moment ago. I didn't know it was Nancy Sinatra singing it.
Interesting. Learn something new everyday.
I like the third one the best...Goldfinger..shudder. I mean, there is SOME nostalgia to it but...not a favorite.
I do like Live and Let Die, though.
