Another Blast From The Past

This weekend's featured artist's life and career were way too short. But before he was tragically struck down in the infancy of his stardom, Jim Croce left us some epic tunes that will be played throughout the ages.

His songs always had a way of putting the listener into some familiar settings or at least painted a vivid picture of the story he was telling. He was a consummate and quintessential balladeer.

Here are some of my favorites:

Here is a live performance on the Midnight Special:

This one is a grandiose tune that always puts a smile on my face. It's about dreaming big, despite living in the reality of the situation:

Enjoy.

Excellent choices this week, LA. At our regular meeting this morning, the Mustang Group staff was trying to figure out why you didn't also post Bad, Bad, LeRoy Brown.

My premier correspondent Lil thinks it's because it brings back too many bad memories from your youth, but I dismissed that notion out of hand. I don't think you have any memories from your youth.

A list of songs was submitted by Mr. Sunsett to this law firm. It was our best legal opinion that Mr. Sunsett not post Bad, Bad Leroy Brown due to the negative stereotypes it cast on black men who frequent sleazy gin joints on the south side of Chicago.

Thank you for your continuing interest in this matter. We hope this clears up any misconceptions and/or aspersions that may have been cast as a result of the choices he has selected, to represent this weekend's award-winning feature.

Respectfully Submitted,

I know I'm just a kid, but I think Sunsett Enterprises needs a new attorney. In the first place, Mr. Shuyster--who misspelled his last name--denigrated black men by omitting the word "alleged," which should have appeared before the word "negative" because I talked about this with my friend Token, and he said "allegedly negative stereotypes" more closely parallels racist stereotypes, but also because they aren't really stereotypes, even if they are negative.

Kyle, on the other hand, thinks the word "allegedly" should appear before the word "frequent" because most black men don't do that. Well, whatever. Kyle is a freak'in Jew, and can't be believed anyway.

But anyway, your lawyer is a dick head and he ought to be fired cuz you're going get your butt sued big time. Kyle thinks you should hire us as your attornies; leave it to a Jew to figure out how to make money. Call me if you want our services.

Sincerely yours,

Love Jim Croce, especially Car Wash Blues. I just learned it on my guitar. Thanks, man.
