A Different Kind Of Racism

There are people in this world are are ignorant enough to believe that only white people can be racists. Because the white man historically owned black slaves absolves people of color from any guilt associated with racism towards whites.

It's true. I have been on blogs where people have said it, and they (both white and black) honestly believe it.

In Atlanta, there is a mayoral race taking place and for the first time in 35 years, there stands a chance a white mayor will be elected.

As you may guess, this isn't setting well with some people:

"You have a young generation of blacks — not native to Atlanta — who don't necessarily see that as something that has to happen," said Boone, who is part of a group that circulated the racially-charged e-mail. "They may be staking their vote on matters more critical than race."

However, a group of black community leaders is urging black voters to rally behind Borders, whose grandfather desegregated the city's police force and who was recently endorsed by the city's black clergy, to prevent a runoff that could hand Norwood a victory.

In late August, an incendiary and widely circulated e-mail specifically noting Norwood's race began circulating among black Atlantans, encouraging them to back Borders.

"Time is of the essence because in order to defeat a Norwood (white) mayoral candidacy we have to get out now and work in a manner to defeat her without a runoff, and the key is a significant Black turnout in the general election," the message sent by the Black Leadership Forum reads.

Basically, the message here is simple. We must defeat whitey or risk everything we have ever gained. Never mind that Atlanta is a cesspool in many areas, we cannot return to the days where a white person is over a chic, avant garde city that reeks of positive symbolism.

Eric Holder was dead wrong to call us a nation of cowards in matters of race. However, even if Holder did not have these particular racist Atlantans in mind, there are still cowards among us who think you have to keep your race in control of the political process.

Similar thing happened recently in a Boston city council race, where a latina won the democratic nomination for a historically black seat. She beat out a black woman on trial now in federal court for taking bribes, yet some blacks were outraged a non-black was chosen. Overt racism, and they aren't the least bit ashamed by it....

I get tired of this "blacks cannot be racist" nonsense. One could argue that blacks do not discriminate as much because they do not have economic power but anyone can be racist

Don't tell me, let me guess.

Her defense was based on the racism of her accusers.

Was I right?

That's a good point.

Here where I live, there is a huge black-owned company. I would be interested to know how many employees are white. Not that I care mind you, it's just something that would be useful to know the next time someone registers a complaint about hiring practices elsewhere.

That sounds like Memphis, Greg. A local DJ here told a caller that we need a black mayor because the city is majority black. When the caller reminded him that Obama won the presidency, he began mumbling, suggested the caller (who was white) was a racist and cut him off. Guess he was a coward.
