Eight Years Ago

I was at work. At first, it was a day not unlike any other. I remember it being a sunny day, with nothing unusual happening on the way in. But by lunchtime, the events of that fateful day forever changed the way I think, the way I look at things.

I remember the shock on the faces of the people I came in contact with, the disbelief and the pain. Then, I remember the jubilant celebrations in Mideastern countries and China. It was at that time, I got mad.

I am still angry....and sad.

I will never forget. Will you?

LA, you summed it well, angry, sad...

I am still pissed and likely will be forever.

Was sitting in front of the computer with a fresh cup and saw the headline, it looked like some kind of sick internet prank.

There are already teenagers who have no clear memory of the day. Wonder what they'll teach kids about this event as time passes?

//Never.//

Same here, unless I am struck with Alzheimers or some other form of dementia.

Part of the way I was brought up was to believe that things happen for a reason and someday we will all understand why those kinds of things do happen.

So far, these things have not occurred to me. If I get to that point someday, I will put up a post on it.

About the time they start feeling complacent and insulated from the thoughts, we may have another "man-made disaster" of tragic proportions. Funny how that jogs a person's memory.

I will never forget and I will never make it through a Sept 11 without shedding many tears.

I wish I could shed more tears, I am just not the kind of guy who can. But just because I am not given to outward displays of emotion, it does not mean that I am incapable of grieving in a deeply sorrowful way.

Since you are a person who can and does, I say let them flow. They do carry healing qualities.

Hi

I was sitting in front of my television watching the Spanish news at 15:00 Central European time when they broke in with live coverage of one plane that hit the WTC. I immediate switched over to CNN and watched from there as the intitial reaction was of a small plane hitting the first tower. Seemed quite improbable given the size of the hole.

The rest is history and I taped it to remember.

When someone told me a plane hit one of the towers, I thought it was a small plane that got into trouble. I was busy and I didn't have time to watch the details. Then, I heard a second plane hit the other tower. I knew then it was a terrorist attack.
