Monday AM QB

The Colts play Miami tonight. I probably won't watch much of it, because I am old and need my sleep in order to have the best mental acuity possible at work. I may write an addendum on the game, if I am able to catch some of it. Right now the focus is on getting ready to leave town in a couple of days.

Bears 17 - Steelers 14

I did catch most of this game. I think the surprise of the day, yesterday, was the Bears beating the Steelers. The field was sloppy from rain and the Steelers FG kicker wasn't able to connect on two occasions late in the game.

Another surprise is the way Cutler bounced back from a poor performance last week. He showed some real poise down the stretch. He got them into position for the game winning FG by Gould.

I know the Steelers miss Polamalu, but that should have been somewhat negated by the Bears' loss of Urlacher. The Bears didn't seem to miss him as much.

Jets 16 - Pats 9

Another shocker. I didn't see it, but it looks like the Jets defense is for real. The only question I have now is, will Sanchez replace Manning as Greg's whipping boy?

Ravens 31 - Chargers 26

It's always a great day, when SD loses. Once again, the boy-wonder punk Philip Rivers pads his stats (and gets accolades from the sports pundits for doing so). But the team gets a loss, which is why he is the most overrated QB in the league.

I am not a fan of the Ravens. But on this Sunday, I was.

Texans 34 - Titans 31

Tennessee 0-2? This is a shocker.

I saw the end of this one and it looked like a good game, albeit there was a lot of trash talking and some fisticuffs. But the real story here is more points by the Titans and they are 2-0, instead. Two close heartbreakers at the begiinng of the season is a big hole to be in, in this division.

I don't follow the pros that much, more of a college fan. It does seem though as if the NFL is a little upside down right now. The only thing helping keep a sense of normality is the Lions keep on losing.

Sanchez is far superior to Manning. Manning continues to be ridiculously overrated. I thought the NE defense did a decent job vs. the Jets, considering the personnel we have this year. It's the offense I don't get. I guess Wes Welker is the MVP b/c w/o him, the offense literally looked confused. Several times, receivers did not know where to line up and there was general confusion before the snap. Also, it's sad to say, but the dirty hit last year by dirtbag Bernard Pollard of the Chiefs has clearly affected Brady. He's not the same QB. :(

Glad the Steelers lost - Roethlessberger is another overrated hack.

I'm completely shocked by the Tennessee game. I benched Schaub in my fanatasy league yesterday - big mistake!

Yeah, with the Lions it would be hard to gin up a lot of excitement right now. But, your Wolverines beat ND. Maybe a bowl this year, and a BCS next year?

It just isn't football season without reading this from Greg. ;)

Listening to Mike & Mike this AM and they said that the Jets' defense was throwing blitzes left and right, using different combinations of players each time. They said they kept the entire offense off-balance.

//He's not the same QB.//

Injury or not, each year gets a little tougher. The more hits taken, the more the body wears down, the more they hurt, and for a QB it makes it tough when you have to get rid of the ball. I think the O-Line is not as good as in years past either.

He may be thinking a little about that hit by Pollard, but I guarantee you, he is thinking more about when his shoulder got rammed into the turf in the pre-season.

Even if he never wins another one, he has solidified his lot in the HoF and will be known as the Joe Montana of this era. But I doubt he is done yet. They must protect him in the pocket longer, and he must work on some quicker releases.

Nope. November is around the corner though. Lakers must defend their title. I am hoping IU shows some signs of improvement, but will not expect too much until next year.

I don't get too excited about basketball until football is over.

Okay. I am sorry. How's this?

Skins 9 - Rams 7

Washington kicked 3 FGs to beat last place St. Louis, yesterday.

Better?

(You know, sometimes I have your best interests at heart when I leave out a score like this. I find it better to report on Washington, if and when they beat the "overrated" (Greg's words, not mine) NY Giants. I have respect for my loyal readers' feelings, ya know.)

YES!

PS - Caught the Dallas - NYG game last night on the reply.

Total satisfaction especially to see their 1.1 billion dollar party pooped.

Sorry Greg!

Some of us …not many, but a few, are waiting for the day when Greg shows up at LA’s house, and whips his anti-Patriots ass from one end of the city to the other. Will it ever happen? All we can do is hope.

No way, Eric C - I respect LA way too much to let his silly affection for the Colts get in the way. Decorate his house and yard in Patriots regalia in the middle of the night? Maybe. But kick his ass over sports loyaties? That's crazy.... :)

That's called ass kicking by proxy, because the neighbors would wake up, see it, and pound me into oblivion. But I do salute you for not falling for that little bastard Cartman's wedge-driving. ;)
