Another Blast From The Past

I never shared his politics or any other opinions of his on culture, style, or life in general. But way back almost 40 years ago, he was truly a rock artist with a musical style all his own.

Reginald Kenneth Dwight is the name given to him at birth. Here are a couple of my favorite songs from his heyday. The first is from his Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player LP:

This one is off of his self-titled album:

For Mrs. Sunsett, this duet with Kiki Dee is her favorite:

Ending it up with another rock and roll piece from arguably his best work, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road:

Enjoy.

I quite frankly always thought he was weird little dude but he does have incredible talent.

Chuck,

In his early days, he would wear a vest and a pair of jeans onstage. He'd sip wine right out of the bottle in between songs, and played the hell out of that piano.

Then.... something happened. What? I do not know, but it made him change so drastically that I couldn't handle watching him anymore.

I liked his music ... I never liked his lifestyle and I didn't appreciate it. So, I was never a fan of Elton John ... just his music. If that makes sense.

I'm with Mrs. Sunsett on the duet, but I am also fond of "I'm Still Standing". It's taken on new meaning of late! LOL!!!!!

Like Mustang, I'm a fan of the man's music, but not the man's lifestyle choice.

Makes perfect sense to me.

That's a good one. How about Empty Garden, the tribute song to Lennon?

Eric, That is a good tune. You surprise me every now and then. But now that I have said that, it's time for you to say something stupid just to have be proven wrong.

Don't let me down bro.

Oh yeah, that would be another good one. Candle in the Wind is another one (tribute to Monroe).

"Your Song" has special mean to me since it was made "my song" by my first love when I was 17 and still impressed by college aged liberals! LOL!!! :-) My poor Dad about had a heart attack over that!

Take me to the Pilot is one of my favorites...not that well known.
Elton John's piano sheet music is some of the best around....very inclusive, very much what HE's playing. this tune is particularly well transcribed, a real pleasure to play.
Now,if I can just find that book, come to think of it..?
