The Oscars

Allow me one moment to say unequivocally that after complete and thorough analysis of the films that were nominated, I feel quite comfortable stating that I don't give a damn who wins.

Only two of the ten competing movies were any good at all. So, it's a safe bet they will not win.

Discuss.

I never watch the Oscars...too many schmucks acting like they give a shit about somebody other than themselves, and we all know they don't.

ME,

You said it right. No wonder George C Scott dismissed them when he won for his role as Patton. He said they were a meat market and he was right.

I get annoyed that a popularity contest decides who wins. Oscars usually go to the person who has been nominated a lot and never won, the woman who gained the most weight/wore a fake nose/dared to look non-Hollywood, or the person who played the dramatic role that exemplified the political beliefs of most of Hollywood. And when they started awarding Best Documentary Oscars to mockumentaries, it was the last straw.

I come over here looking for encouragement. I come to this blog for intellectual challenges, understanding, and intuitive comprehension. What I get is deep-seeded anger directed at our artistic elite, and I get it from a man who has Ricky Schroeder posters hanging in his home office.

Oh transition, thou art transparent. This blog used to be dedicated to the American way of life: caring. Now it comes down to “I don’t give a damn” in less than four paragraphs. Is this where our nation ends, then, on a sour, hateful, selfish note?

Thanks a lot Mr. Sunsett, thanks for giving younger people like me encouragement. I think I’ll go over to Kenny’s house and steal some of his mother’s drugs.

Your friend,

Eric:

I think Kenny died from a drug overdose today. You better try someone else.

The latest on the Oscars is a lawsuit against the guy who wrote the story of The Hurt Locker told the story in such a way as to make our troops look like a bunch of reckless cowboys instead of showing them to be the professionals they are! I hope it bombs, but this is typical of what Hollyweird produces which is why I haven't watched the Oscars in years! Who cares, they are a bunch of weirdos and kooks, with the exception of a few.

Just my humble thoughts... HAM

Just a fool's parade

Seriously, I don't care about the Oscars or who wins the little naked trophies. But how many of these events do we have to hear about in a year's time? Yeesh. It's like they have one every month...get over yourselves already.

If you want to go about and pat each other on the back (or have cat fights in the back room) dress in weird clothes and drink a whole lot --just throw a Hollywood block party and leave the t.v cameras outside.

Which were the 2 films you like, LAS?

The Life and Times of LA Sunsett will not win me.

I don't watch these programs simply because they don't matter. As Leslie tells us, it involves people who take turns patting each other on the back. And more to the point, what difference does any of this make? What do actors really do for us in society, outside of making queer behavior appear normal and acceptable?

I suggest: nothing.

Ever since Robert Shaw wasn't nominated for best supporting actor in "Jaws" I've tuned most of them out.

But MA, don't you know that as long the mockumentaries are putting out the right message, it's okay?

It's hard to say why I stopped watching. It's been so long ago.

I am sorry Eric. Just keep up the good work and you can successfully sink lower than the current generation of stoned slackers, who are presently inhabiting their parents' basements.

You can do it. I have faith in you.

Or a costume ball? Everything is fake and not what it seems.

Marketing, marketing, marketing. Remember the old cliche, "There's a sucker born every minute".

Up and The Blind Side.

Up was a Pixar animated feature, but it was one great story.

Oscar, this is why smart people don;t give a damn about you. Everyone knows that film is still in production.

LA Sunset said...

Not a damn bit of difference, unless you work in the industry. Either I like a movie or I don't. I either watch one or I won't. And....I have been known to walk out of one if it stunk. Or in the era of DVDs, I have shut some off.

Those bastards.

HAM, they won't win. The courts will side with the film makers because it will be viewed as a control of artistic freedom.

You know what I am saying here.....the same kind of artistic freedom that allows for elephant dung to thrown at a likeness of a biblical character and be called art?
