We all know that when Obama's team cannot control something, their strategy becomes punitive. Take the recent loss of $400 million in federal aid money, as one example. A simple paperwork error was the culprit.
Now, some would point to government inefficiency as the real cause. And for the most part, they are right. The buck must stop with those who screwed up. But as we read in the NYT, there is likely more to this:
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey initially blamed federal grant evaluators for the fact that his state lost out after filing the wrong budget information with its application. (Mr. Christie has fired his education commissioner over the matter.) But there were other equally self-inflicted wounds, including the Christie administration’s failure to build support for the application among unions and local school districts.
First and foremost, Christie fired his Commissioner because he misled the Governor -- not for the error. But the NYT is not known for its journalistic integrity these days, so why are we not surprised the story has been slanted?
Even more telling is what we see from the bold emphasis (that I added), which is the real reason no one from the federal government cut the state any slack. Unions are no fans of Christie, but they do love Obama. Christie is not in their pockets, but Obama is.
For the real extent of just how serious the $400 million mistake was, take a look at this video of Gov. Christie explaining to all just how this whole thing unfolded:
So there it is. One page out of a thousand. No one picked up the phone.
In all this, I have to say that this guy really is a breath of fresh air and we need more like him. We need to look more towards the straight shooters who stand on moral and ethical principles, instead of BS designed to make people feel good.
Instead of calling the mistake maker out and firing him/her, he looks at this from a very pragmatic perspective. The federal government isn't interested in what is right, but they are interested in retribution. It is equally obvious by the way they hire robots and zombies to not think for themselves that the robots that are programmed to obey all orders. And in this case, the orders were to find a mistake and reject NJ's application, because the Obama programmers didn't live the Governor.

I think the thing that stands out is he is taking responsibility, something I do not think Obama has done once since he has been in office.
I think Gov. Christie is merely covering for George Bush. It's that right wing conspiracy thing.
The person that needs firing does not work in Trenton.
I don't think Sunsett should be fired!
Eric
That video's so refreshing....someone who speaks his mind and tells the truth and points out STUPIDITY in government. No wonder he got elected!
also, as an aside, LA..I have the darndest time with your blog when I scroll down, it's really hard to 'hone in' on to an article or video as sometimes it'll appear there are two videos or the scroller goes too far down, etc...I wouldn't mention it except it never has happened at any other blog...maybe it's me, but... please delete this, just thought I'd finally mention it ! xxx
Anybody tries to fire my buddy Sunsett will have to climb over my ass first.
Barney
I heard they bounced the application because Christie is a Republican, not because of the one page thingie. So, the rejection was totally legit. ;)
Well, I heard a rumor that Sunset, Pelosi and Frank were all in on this punishment being met out to Governor Christie. (I cannot divulge the source of said rumor or I will be hearing from the attorneys of MG!!!)
They were quaffing down a few in Barney's Mom's basement and thought ... "wouldn't it be funny"...[fill in the blank]??? Sounds like a dangerous "no-brain trust" is in place if the rumor is true!
But of course with the performance (mobster politics) of the Obama Administration and their sycophants in DC and Congress in particular... there is no shortage of "no-brain trusts" in government, so no surprise! :-)
I just learned that George Bush was working part time in the NJ DOE ... he's the one who screwed up the application.
That damn Bush.
Z, this appears to be a problem with the new blogger templates, not LA's site. It could be Bush's fault.
Chuck,
Obama and his cronies have done nothing but blame Bush the entire time he has been in office. It worked for the first six months, but even some liberals are getting tired of it now.
//I think Gov. Christie is merely covering for George Bush.//
That's why you are the Commander.
//The person that needs firing does not work in Trenton.//
Person? I think you forgot your "s" at the end.
Eric,
No one likes you. Even you mom told the Gunny she hated you. Now go take your Ritalin.
//No wonder he got elected!//
I wish we had more like him willing to take the heat to get this thing turned around. Hopefully he will inspire more people to do so.
Barney,
I have traced your comment to Mustang's IP address. What are you doing in his office in his home, when he is not there?
Or...never mind. I don't want that visual in my head.
//So, the rejection was totally legit.//
So glad to have a lawyer interpret all of this for us, pro bono. If Mustang hadn't stiffed me for all of the co-pays he owes me for medical advice, I could afford to put you on retainer.
//Sounds like a dangerous "no-brain trust" is in place if the rumor is true! //
Catherine,
My attorney will be sending you a subpeona. Please cooperate, so we can stop this kind of objectionable libel in the future.
//That damn Bush.//
Yes, damn him all to hell.
//Z, this appears to be a problem with the new blogger templates, not LA's site. It could be Bush's fault.//
See how easy this is Z? AC has got it downpat. Just think about baked beans and you will have your answer to everything that goes wrong in the world.
AC, I wish I knew what to do about this. But I do like the new templates.
