It kind of brings a tear to my eye. It reminds me of my childhood and early adulthood listening to Radio Moscow for laughs, on a boring Saturday night. Those were the days.

Sadly, the one thing the Russians can do these days is launch large objects in to space. They can still do that because of US welfare checks to their space program as part of the ill conceived International Space Station program. If the US had taken all the money we poured into the Russian space station, we would have our own larger and more functional station.
I'd prefer that the Russians focus on cleaning up the ecological mess they made of their own country and Eastern Europe, but that is a fantasy, they don't give a shit about the environment.
You are right.
Russia doesn't care about anyone, but themselves. It's not surprising when you consider they traditionally get along with the French.
