Well....

I am back home now.

Because of the horrible snow and ice storm, I spent the night in a Red Roof Inn with all of its coveted amenities, courtesy of my employer. It took several desperate attempts to open the door to my room, while ice and snow blew all over me and I was standing in a foot-high drift on the ledge on the second floor. I had to go to the motel office to see if they had a pen.

By the time I left work last night, I was starved. The only restaurant open was the always elegant and atmospheric White Castle. I apologized to my co-workers today.

In all, we got about 7-9 inches in this area. Drifts were up to 3 feet in some places. But some places north of us got up to 17 and drifts were much higher. So, I guess I shouldn't bitch.

Well..... needless to say, I am wiped out and am too tired to read the comments, at least with any measure of reasonable comprehension. Therefore, I will forego it, until the morning. Thanks to all that kept the place warm for me.

Dude, the weather was nasty here as well. What a horrible storm.

Hey, have you ever had a problem with your neighbor? Like loud music, or something like that? Do you call the cops or do you go over and try to talk it out first? Check out this news story I was stunned to read.

Greg, I heard that you guys were getting the remnants of our storm. I have to say that Indy does a good job of snow removal. But in this case, the snow fell faster than they could keep it plowed, and the wing caused the drifts to re-form immediately after being plowed.

I read that article you linked to. It sounds like Ellison is a little afraid to confront. The real thing I find interesting is, the article reported that one of Ellison's supporters during the swear-in on the Koran issue, was Tancredo.

Tancredo supported Ellison on that issue? I find that hard to believe. I didn't see that in the article I linked.

Hi LASunsett !

So, how was LASunsett's stay in a ... French hotel ? (wide grin)

Or was it because "Red Roof Inn is the official hotel chain of the National Football League (NFL)". (thanks Wiki !)

Amerloque is pleased to see that LAS is OK. Some of the pix on CNBC here in Europe are truly worrying ...

Best,

Greg,

From the article:

To help keep his office free of impurities, Tancredo has three air purifiers. And he has no plans to meet Ellison anytime soon. “I’m sure we will, but I’m not going to make a point [of it],” the presidential hopeful said, adding that he supported Ellison’s right to be sworn in with the Quran.

That's the first time I had heard of it too. But, I do not see the big deal about what holy book any of them use to swear-in. Most of the ones that use the Bible lie their asses off, when they place their hands on it, anyway. Who's to say Ellison spoke the truth with the Koran?

French hotel? I didn't see one French maid. I got ripped off.

Same here. I didn't see one NFL player or logo, got no free tickets either.

Yes, I am fine. Of course the locals here are trying to compare this storm to the blizzard of 78. I didn't live here then, I was in San Antonio during that storm. All we got there was some ice, which was not normal for that area. My understanding is that the 78 blizzard was much worse than this one, in that there were about ten more inches and some drifts were up to roof tops of most houses.

Damn LA! You bring back the memories. White castle Hamburgers. Are they still loaded with onions. I remember the white castle at the corner, ( I think it was reading road) in in cincinnati when I was a kid. It was just down from the Swifton Shopping center

It's too painful for me to remember tonight sniff!!!

That, they are. They even throw on a couple of pickles. I get the doubles. I get a craving for them about once a month. Once I have satisfied that craving, I am okay for another month.

They are good, but very unhealthy. Oh well....

Hey snowman! I'm tagging you with one of those silly meme things. Don't hate me ( but I won't mind if you ignore it!).

Hope all is well in the frozen north.
