Rivera, O'Reilly In Heated Exchange

This video is a microcosm of politics in today's American society. Whats starts out as a reasonably civil debate between these two, quickly devolves into a shouting match.

It's typical of what we can expect to see in the coming years. I think that the Rosie Vs Trump Affair, coupled with this kind of exchange sets the tone while lowering the bar, for this kind of discourse. And it will only stand to get worse, if the two parties do not alienate their extremes and return to a more civil relationship with the opposing sides. I doubt it's going to happen, but one can wish.

O'reilly + fox news. What did you expect ?

I've noticed O'Reilly has been losing his cool a lot lately. As a watcher of his program since the late 90s that's not unusual at times, but it seems to be happening more.

There are certain issues, like illegal immigration or judges who slap the wrists of pedophiles that set him off, but if he can't debate w/o shouting then he's no better than Olbermann--who never has opposing viewpoints (except his own).

JPH,,

You forgot Rivera. He was part of the equation too.

Besides that, I know O'Reilly takes a hit from the French people because of his stand on the French government. And, that's okay.

But I have also noticed a tendency of many French people will totally disregard it when he is right on something, just because they are mad at him for his French comments.

I do not watch him on a regular basis, so I cannot tell. I have Sirius radio, I was listening to John Gibson's radio show on the way home from work last evening, and he was cutting in on this exchange. I caught the replay last night at eleven on TV and it looked like Geraldo was every bit as angry as Bill was.

1. I think the frustration he is feeling is certainly the same level of frustration felt by many others that do not have his platform. But you are right, shouting and getting so mad you chew nails does not advance the argument.

2. I have never considered Olbermann much more than a lousy sportscaster that wants to play with the big boys, but somehow falls short on his attempt. He is not interested in intelligent debate, he only wants to perform a nightly diatribe. His ratings bear it out.

Hi Rocket,

We have all been made to believe that they have kissed and made up. Geraldo said the next day that what many people do not know is, they are very good friends, they are just very passionate about what they believe in.

The video clip does not show the final minute where both of their body languages lokked as if they were sorry. So, until I am made to think otherwise, I will believe it.

It was a shouting match, that's for sure.

Geraldo lost me when he said We have lured these people to this country with the promise of jobs in a full-employment economy. The discussion was about an ILLEGALimmigrant. Alfredo Ramos wasn't invited to come to the United States.
