Inauguration Day, 2009

I was going to put a short piece together for the inauguration, out of respect for what Mr. Obama has accomplished and for the Office of the Presidency, itself. But in my readings last evening, I found one that pretty much reflects my feelings on the upcoming day and the days that will certainly follow.

Robert at Conservative Convictions has said it, as well as anyone can.

This day belongs to Mr. Obama and those that supported him. To all of them I say congratulations and enjoy. Enjoy, because this is what you worked so hard for. Savor this short moment as long as you can. For today is the present, it is the here and now.

Tomorrow, today will be history and the real work will begin. It will be the American people that will bear the fruits of that labor, whatever it may be.

PYY will be there throughout the next four years, every step of the way and watching intently. Mr. Obama will always receive the respect that is due him, for the office he holds. But his policies and proposals will be scrutinized intensely, if they do not represent the convictions of this author.

In all of this, one thing will be certain. He will not receive the same hateful, disrespectful, rude, and nasty treatment that George Bush received from the Left. I will not lower myself to the same gutter.

Again, I say enjoy this moment. It will pass quickly.

You're a good man, LAS.

I'm not. I'll respect Obama when he does something worthy of my respect. Today, I look at a man who is completely owned by the special interests who spent record amounts to put him in office. He's not accomplished anything of note, except fantastic fundraising. He's a vapid egotist with his self-appointment as the reincarnation of Lincoln. He belonged to a racist, anti-American "church" for 20 years. He's a liar with no principles. I think he's a piece of shit. I'm open to being proven wrong, however. He's got 4 years to change my mind.

Tomorrow, this will be evident for all to see.

As time passes during his term, I believe more people will see that he is no different from any other politician, although he was promoted as different. As he makes decisions, some of those decisions will exclude those in which he sought as part of his support.

We are still a divided nation, one man cannot unite us with nothing but mere words, regardless of the creative rhetoric from idealistic people that think he can. Words cannot unite, actions can.

For over a year now we have heard his words and his promises. Today we will hear more of them. But tomorrow, we will see the beginning of his actions. This will tell us the story.

Hi LAS and Everyone !

Does anyone even remember, or care ?

Jan Palach (August 11, 1948 – January 19, 1969) was a Czech student who committed suicide by self-immolation as a political protest.

The Amerloque family left an empty chair at dinner last night ... forty years already ...

Best,

Amerloque couldn’t help smiling at one comment on USAToday :

We will build spaceships out of pizza boxes.

We will turn lead into gold.

We will make hate go away by thinking about unicorns.

We haven't even reached King's dream yet. We'll know we have when minorities don't bother to show up for inuagurations or speeches just because one of their own is running, or say they've finally become excited about the political process for the first time in their lives.

It's coming soon, though and Obama will always be known as the pathfinder.

Hi there Amerloque!!

//Jan Palach//

Didn't remember the name. I was but a preteen listening to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, when this event took place. I had a WWII world history teacher in HS, he went heavy on that era and by the time we got done with things up to that point, there was no time for recent history. We ran out of time.

We will turn words into BS (is what I am thinking here).

AC, I think you are 100% right on this.

This will help your average to come up from its current number of 98.3% (at such a critical point in the season). ;)

Oh LAS...how we missed you at the ole shit hole today. I kept telling everyone that I had the priviledge of helping today, that the world would be better after 1600 hrs. (I only picked that time b/c I was too damn busy to know when the BIG event happened.) Was I wrong? (about the world being a better place) You know, all of his supporters think he is the man to save the world. Whatever!
Never the less, I tried to make up for your attitude at work. It was fun, maybe I'll do it again. :)

This guy should have written Obama's inaugural address. He seems to be better than the Obama speecwriter.

Be careful, PC. That could get you called into someone's office. ;)

Thanks Rocket, but know one even called.

BTW, for a small nominal fee (the PYY discount) I can write you a speech. I have an honorary doctorate in BS (mail order from the Univ. of Walla Walla).
