Pelosi Prevarication

We all know the story of Nancy Pelosi lie, saying she had never known about waterboarding. Then, the WaPo article from 2007 was recalled, which emphatically stated she had attended a briefing in 2002 -- where she was informed of this procedure. Basically, she was caught red-handed.

This was not the usual politician half-truth or exaggeration, but a bold-faced lie to cover her ass for years of criticizing the Bush Administration, complaining that waterboarding was torture.

Now, she has a different version.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi learned in early 2003 that the Bush administration was waterboarding terror detainees but didn’t protest directly out of respect for “appropriate” legislative channels, a person familiar with the situation said Monday.

The Pelosi camp’s version of events is intended to answer two key questions posed by her critics: When, precisely, did she first learn about waterboarding? And why didn’t she do more to stop it?

More lies from the U.S. House Speaker.

The more she speaks, the more she lies. She's caught red-handed.

Pelosi had no problems criticizing Bush for anything. Why should you or I believe that she lacked any authority (moral or otherwise) to speak out at the time, if she really had concerns.

It seems to me Pelosi is a chameleon. She has no natural color, no natural inherent principled beliefs. Whatever her background is, that's what she is.

She is the worst kind of politician in the world. I can have more respect for those leftists that stick with their principles, as flawed as I may think they may be. I can have no respect for pols like Pelosi, who are worse than a used car salesman.

And if Bush Administration officials are prosecuted, then politicians like Nancy Pelosi should face charges for being complicit in this entire situation.

That's precisely why there will be no prosecutions. Besides the fact that 0bama and his cronies would face the same fate when they're out of office. And besides the fact that it's just a ludicrous idea with no precedent in our system of law and government.

I must say, watching the Democrats and 0bama hem and haw, flip-flop and equivocate on these WOT issues is quite entertaining. It certainly lends credence to the idea that all the things that lefties thought would make GWB go down as one of (if not the) worst POTUS in history will actually make him look like someone who stuck his political neck out for the good of the country. As opposed to his opponents, who will be seen as completely political and hypocritical, putting their own interests above those of the country. History will not be kind to Ms. Pelosi.

I think Obama's staff realizes that the tables could easily be turned on them, if this precedent is set. This is why I don't think they are particularly eager to see this move forward.

But moonbats being what they are, there are some who are too obtuse, too dense to understand the big picture.

And lest some moonbat read this and complain, I said the same thing about the Clinton-Lewinsky affair too. The GOP really blew that one to hell.

Looking for a crime in Whitewater was one thing, but going after an incident that involved oral sex was quite another.

Geez … imagine that; Pelosi is a liar. This story, along with the media’s titillations with respect to the beautiful Carrie Prejean, causes me to scratch my head. Where is the news? Did anyone not know what a lying snake-in-the-grass Pelosi is when they hired her as Speaker of the House, or reelected her to represent the honest folks of Bay area California?

As Greg points out, this is the fundamental flaw in our judicial system; decisions with respect to prosecution are all too often made based on political advantages. Local and state prosecutors are guilty of this, and so too are those connected with the federal judiciary. Meanwhile, most of us are led to believe that no man/woman is above the law even in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. If this were true, no member of congress could survive more than a single term in office without being thrown into the dungeon.

PS. I know you can’t read, LA … but Leslie’s book is now available. You can check it out here. Perhaps you know someone who can read and this would make an excellent birthday gift, or maybe a nice present for someone you know just now completing drug rehab. I might consider that promotion to sergeant major if you step up.

I think this is the very definition of the word appalling. There is a Constitutional process in place to render 'justice' here, and that was to impeach George Bush. Kucinich and Feingold were about the only Democrats worth the courage of their convictions on this--and now we see precisely why Pelosi tabled it. This is about raw power and has been since they didn't find the WMDs.

I still believe Bush could perhaps rescue the Republican Party by coming forth and taking the entire blame and putting himself up for public trial--on condition that Obama pardon everyone under him. It would be a leadership gesture that the Dems probably couldn't accept.

So I agree with Greg on the prosecution odds. And the docs Cheney wants released will never be released as the sunshiniest administration ever rolls on.

Yet, he took the time to type out something for someone who cannot read. Sundowners symptoms must be tougher this time of year, because the days are longer.

Be advised, sunshine and lollipops make the world go round.

Don't worry, the House is going to investigate her. They'll get to the bottom of it.

Thanks a million Chuck. I feel better already.
