A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are.
Little by little, bit by bit. They chip away at freedom and at the same time, add more government bureaucracy. This will be sold as such an innocent thing, so we can all protect the little kids. But at some point it will turn into more ways to control more of our lives. The more info they have, the more they can use to control behaviors.
It's not only as land grab, it's a "very soul and spirit" grab.
How ironic is this?
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., who has been critical of Arizona's new immigration law, said Thursday he hasn't yet read the law and is going by what he's read in newspapers or seen on television.
Congress doesn't read the bills it passes, so why should the Executive Branch read what it criticizes?
Arizona has gone one step further.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill targeting a school district's ethnic studies program, hours after a report by United Nations human rights experts condemned the measure.State schools chief Tom Horne, who has pushed the bill for years, said he believes the Tucson school district's Mexican-American studies program teaches Latino students that they are oppressed by white people.
This is what all states must do to combat something that is way too far out of control. As it is now, there are many schools in America that are teaching minorities to hate white people. We sure don't need it.
It's definitely being done and the federal government is planting and cultivating seeds of strife between the races, with their philosophical approach to education. We have the problems we have now, because the message is no longer equality. It is empowerment.
If there is to ever be a sound world for all of our kids and grandkids to live in, we must stop hate on all fronts. There is no "two ways" about it.
Boozing it up, French-style.
A 23-year-old man died Thursday after an accident at a huge alcohol-drenched party organized on Facebook—one of two such events held simultaneously in two French cities that drew nearly 20,000 people and, police say, are a dangerous trend.
There used to be a group of French readers here, who frequented a French blog that fought French bashing by denigrating American culture, while at the same time promoting the moral and intellectual superiority of their country.
They don't come around here anymore and it's a shame. I would like to read their explanations for this. But with the grandeur of haute culture they lay claim to, it only goes to show that stupidity knows no national boundaries. We have our share, they have theirs. So what?
Watch the big bad teacher beat up a defenseless kid.
It takes someone real tough to beat up on a kid. My how proud this piece of vermin must feel. But that's not all of it.
It turns out she was facing charges before this incident. And.....she was still teaching. They might want to take a look at this charter school and the other teachers employed here. I know it's a charter school. But even at that, the bad apples need to be sorted out and eliminated.
All I can say is, it's a good thing her victim wasn't anyone related to me.

Agreed.
Word is that other teachers may have stood around and watched. They all need to share the same jail cell.

The entire school needs to be investigated at this point. If there were other teachers who were onlookers and did nothing, this tells me this may not be the first time something questionable has occurred.
this French alcohol thing must be new...but it plays off a wonderful French PIQUENIQUE....from N to S of France, one big picnic table....stretching across the country, it was amazing to be a part of that...you brought your own food and wines and had such a good time...just knowing all over the country, people were doing the same thing!
Then, there's the Fete de La Musique, where almost every corner cafe or restaurant has live music, all over paris, and maybe all over France, that's a great night!
Re' the teacher and the student....you're so right; the whole school needs to be investigated.
LASThe entire school needs to be investigated at this point.
I had the same thought when I watched a TV news piece on the story. The sign in front of the school has three words that form a sort of motto, and 'discipline' is one of them. I found that a little unusual. And at first the school didn't necessarily have a problem with an allegation of physical contact with a student, which is also strange.

I saw that. What a clown. Embarrassing. He's threatening the State of Arizona with a civil rights lawsuit, though. The guy is all over the place on every single issue. I chuckled as his men were in my neck of the woods yesterday rounding up Pakistanis - connected with the Times Square bomber (I know - Pakistanis involved in terrorism? It's hard to believe) - on immigration charges. Who is Eric Holder to be demanding to know the immigration status of a couple of dark-skinned people who just happened to be moving money through the ancient network known as Hawala to a terrorist who tried to commit mass murder? That is so un-American, like the racist Arizona law, isn't it?
As I said before it is not really worth wasting one's time thinking about what these French say.
They are insignificant.

Very good pint. Whenever I have heard something like this I have always thought that it is concerning that the staff feels so comfortable watching and doing nothing. It speaks volumes about the leadership. In a normal environment, other staff would be all over this and stepping in.

It would be tough to do it here. But it would be neat if it could. Somebody would get robbed, or a bear would crash the party.
//He's threatening the State of Arizona with a civil rights lawsuit, though.//
It will make the entire US Law necessary to be entered into the record .....as evidence of it being Constitutional. It will be quoted and debated. They will lose it as the SCOTUS sits right now.
Then... it will force their hand to change the law, which will be political suicide for anyone who casts their vote with it.
I say let them.
//As I said before it is not really worth wasting one's time thinking about what these French say.

True...but I can point out the absurdity of their thinking once a year.
//It speaks volumes about the leadership. In a normal environment, other staff would be all over this and stepping in.//
1. It sure does.
2. Yes they would.
There is nothing wrong with tough love, especially in special needs kids who are not getting it. But this school apparently has no other purpose than to beat the hell out of those who piss off a teacher. The body language is clear here. The fact that no one stepped in says this was more common than this one incident.
Who knows? The kid may be a Class A Brat. But this was not indicated in any way, whatsoever. It just reinforced that "ass whoopins" are a part of life and are to be tolerated as a rational means of communication. Another example of thuggery.
Hi Z !
///... this French alcohol thing must be new...but it plays off a wonderful French PIQUENIQUE ...///
Let's nort forget that in French slang the word for "to F..k" is "niquer" from which comes the totally forgettable rock group "Nique ta mere".
Remember "The Singing Nun" ? How she sang "Dominique-à-nique" ? Millions of French people still laugh to this day (she was Belgian, by the way). (grin)
Best,
L'Amerloque
