Various And Sundry Controversial Opinions

I know my readers are on top of things. So it is surely known by now that the DHS is banning federal employees' access to sites that the government thinks is controversial. Someone (with an office, a desk, and a pen) will sign off on what can be cut off and what cannot. There will be a censor.

On one hand, I cannot think of any reason a federal employee should be reading PYY on the taxpayer's nickel. They should be doing their job. Unless, their job is to read PYY.

In other controversial opinions, there's this guy called Charley Bolden, he's the big cheese at NASA, and he's a doozy. He thinks his most important objective is to reach out to Muslims and get them involved with the space programs.

Folks, that's just what we need.... an opportunity for extremists to study delivery systems up close. This is getting scarier by the day.

We now have testimony that what we all suspected was true. J. Christian Adams now says publicly that the DOJ used racial bias when they dismissed the case against the club-wielding Black Panthers at the Philadelphia polling station, in 2008.

A black AG, who works for a black President that sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years, guilty of racial bias? Who can honestly say they are surprised?

I'm most interested in the NASA story. I'm a big believer in America remaining the leader in space exploration, and in space exploration in general. Obama apparently isn't, as he has gutted funding for the agency, and hasn't given it a realistic mission to accomplish anytime soon.

Instead, he wants NASA to "reach out" to Muslim countries. In addition to revealing his lack of interest in space exploration, it demonstrates his obvious confusion when it comes to the Muslim world. The reason some Muslims become violent jihadis isn't because we haven't reached out to them enough. They are just religious fanatics, and no amount of reaching out will turn them to our side. For those Muslims who are favorably disposed to America, what are we doing? We've abandoned Iranian protesters to their murderous government. We've abandoned the Bush policy of trying to expand civil rights in the Middle East. Obama just doesn't care about Muslims who want to bring their countries into the modern world.

Obama = worst President of my lifetime.

I agree. We have rewarded bad behavior with enabling the behavior further.

The "so-called" moderate Muslims are no help, either. They will not speak out against fanaticism and extremism. They are cowards.

Certainly, encouragement from the United States - moral and even material support for pro-reform Muslims - would go a long way towards increasing our standing in the Muslim world, imo. Tying American aid to civil reforms and anti-terror commitments would help. We do nothing. It's hard to stand up to armed government thugs and terrorists when no one's got your back. Actually, isn't Iraq a good example of this theory? Especially in Kurdistan? It works, at least in principal.

Greg,

It's hard to help other governments to fight thugs, when our own government is run by thugs. The sentiment then lies with the thugs and NOT the peace loving people....wherever they may be.

When the DOJ drops charges against racist thugs who intimidated people at the polls with a club, it doesn't add much to the government's credibility to those peace lovers.

This guy Bolden is a 35 year Marine and former Shuttle astronaut. I guess he's soldiering on, but you have to wonder why he called his son "Che".

Anyway, I keep wondering more about his comment that we can't go to the moon because it costs too much. We went in the 1960s with computers as powerful as today's desktops. If the command module could escape low earth orbit, why can't we build something now?

AC,

If you are really in tune with your inner being, you will use "Fly Me To The Moon" by Sinatra on your music blog. But if that's not an option, consider that realistic research in this administration is not an option either. They would much rather give money and devote resources to entities that use thuggery to persuade and produce nothing of any real value.

It's an upside down world.
