Mon AM QB

I only have a quick rundown of some random thoughts, this week.

I did not see the game but from what I read, the Colts lost to the punk Rivers and his team because of turnovers. Peyton cannot keep throwing interceptions like this and expect to make the playoffs. But, who knows? Maybe they need to sit out a year to learn what it feels like.

The Bears held back the Eagles and their dog-killer QB. That's always fun to watch.

I am wondering if this may be Jeff Fisher's last year in Tennessee. He seems to have lost some control of this team. This Tennessee team doesn't seem to have much respect for him, and they sense ownership doesn't either. But with some big teams looking for good coaches at the end of this season, he'll land on his feet.

One team that looks real good right now is the Atlanta Falcons. With the Pats, they seem to be the most complete team out there, week after week. Offense, defense, balance between run and pass, special teams. They are doing it all, quietly, under the radar.

So, what did you all see?

Found myself rooting for the Bills, and they threw the game away.

Found myself rooting for the Colts' second string against the Chargers - couldn't get it done.

Rooted heartily for the horrible Bengals on Turkey Day - not even close.

Basically, except for my team, all the teams I was rooting for this week lost. Pats are 9-2 and, right now, a wild card team. They HAVE to win next Monday night against the Jests.

I note the silly video taping incident from 3 years ago is back. I note former Jests employee Goodell will not be stealing away the Broncos' #1 draft pick. I note that while this has nothing to do with the Patriots, the Patriots still get dragged into it; and I note that those dragging the Patriots into it fail to mention the '07 Patriots went 18-1 without video taping. Annoying, but hey, if people want to put another chip on the shoulders of Belichick and Brady, that's fine with me.

I was at my in-laws Thursday and my father in-law doesn't like football (it's weird) so I didn't watch the Lions-Pats, didn't feel the Lions were worth making a fuss over. Sounds lie NE whipped them pretty good.

I'm more of a college football person and after Saturday I am now on the RichRod termination watch

I'm impressed with the Falcons as well. Good solid QB and positive attitude.

Not sure I completely agree on Fisher yet since the team is bound to be in some disarray with a third-stringer running the offense, but Sunday's game was ridiculous so you may be right. Or maybe Randy Moss is leading a quiet mutiny.. he has great clubhouse presence! ;-)

Now that the mystery is solved, please feel free to root for the Chargers next time.

;)

How many years left on his contract?

Maybe Denver fires McDaniels, then...TN cans Fisher and Denver hires him.

I think 2 but I read an interesting article today about the AD evaluating him.

-he is waiting until after the bowl game

-he will get (I think) $4 mil if fired now, $2.5 mil if fired after Jan 1

-Jim Harbaugh of Stanford, a former U of M quarterback and the popular fan choice for a Rodriguez replacement, is making some changes in his schedule to be at a U of M banquet next month.

Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated wrote that getting rid of Rodriguez this year would only make sense if they had a solid lead on a replacement. According to him an example of a solid lead would be Harbaugh.

Actually I'm not firmly in the "fire Rodriguez" camp but I do think he has not lived up to expectations and has had more than enough time to field a better team than he has this year. It's not the mistakes by the freshman, it just has a feel as if they are simply not coached very well. Part of the problem is that it is not really just the freshmen playing poorly, it's all of the players.

One final observation from my dad this weekend. He has noticed (and I tend to agree) that his players haven't been rushing to his defense or insisting he needs to hang around for another year. No significant show of support for him at all. Not a good sign in a college football program.

Personally, I hope he stays put in Stanford. He has worked so hard to build that program. I understand the alma mater thing, but he'd almost have to start from scratch again.

Global warming continued

In Orleans France this morning it was 5°F.(flat landscape 100km south of Paris) This is the coldest on record at this time of the year(November). In Paris we are expecting a high of 23°F. This is the coldest on record for November.

Do I need to say more.

I would prefer not to contribute to this football post being that I am a Redskins fan.

I don't think so. Michigan has quite a bit of talent, they just need someone to coach them. He may have to tweak things and it may a couple of years to be at a national-championship level but the pieces are in place.
