My takes on the Saturday games are here.
Sunday's games are as follows:
NY Giants 24 - TB Buccaneers 14
I only watched a little of the Tampa Bay-NY Giants matchup this afternoon. What I did see was all Giants. I did hear one of the Bucs' scoring drives on the radio, in the car.
What I was able to gather is, the Giants were too strong for their overrated opponents. TB wouldn't even be in the playoffs if it wasn't for the fact that they play in one of the sorriest divisions in the NFL. This doesn't take into account that the Bucs are horrible at home and the Giants are one of the best road teams in the league.
No surprise here.
Next week, the Giants will need to face the Cowboys for a third time. Most football fans can tell you, it's very difficult to beat a team three times in one season.
SD Chargers 17 - Tennessee Titans 6
You have to hand it to Tennessee's defense, they really did a number on the run in this one. LT could not get into a rhythm to save his life. The one thing that really helped the Titans in this game was the coach. Jeff Fisher gets the most out of his players, even when they are out-gunned on paper.
The Titans shut the Chargers out 6-0, in the first half. The game was not decided until late. But down the stretch, the Chargers were just too strong for them. They will not have that luxury next week, when they face the Colts in Indy.
Prediction on tonight's BCS Championship:
LSU plays in the best conference in college football, they are used to big games. Ohio State plays in the Big Ten, not exactly the same caliber of opposition as the SEC. LSU should win this game, but I do not expect OSU to hand it to them. It could be close and go down to the wire. They will have to earn it.

Wow - I either way overestimated the Bucs, or way underestimated the Giants. I'm leaning towards the former, but boy, the Giants are a lot better than the Buccaneers.
The showing by the Chargers & Rivers against a crappy, undermanned Titan team was pathetic. San Diego is not for real.
Greg's probably still mad at the Titans for that amazing play with Frank Wycheck years ago. Wasn't that against the Pats? ;-)
Anyway, good call on the game LA, they weren't quite up to SD although it was close like I thought it might be. They should not hang their heads. Agree that SD is going to get crushed next week.

You mean the play with the 2 forward passes that was ruled a lateral and TD? Yeah, that was bull, but it was not against the Pats. Can't remember the opponent just now...
Anyway, the Patriots hate the Titans for injuring Rodney Harrison right before the playoffs last year, so I was hoping for a re-match.
Sorry for apearing to diss your team, though - I didn't realize you were a fan of Tennessee, AC. Obviously, with less injuries (and the generous TD call for LT), Tennessee wins that game. The bottom line is that the Chargers are frauds.
AC,
//that amazing play with Frank Wycheck years ago. Wasn't that against the Pats? //
Buffalo Bills. I was in the RCA Dome at the moment that happened at some event the Colts held for the fans. They had exhibits, mostly stuff for kids. Mine were younger and very into the things that were there.
They had the big screens with that game on. No one wanted to play the Bills, because that was at the end of the Buffalo runner-up dynasty. When that play happened, the entire population in that dome erupted. (Of course, we all thought better of it when we lost to the Titans the next week.)

It's going to take some time to build an offense and a scheme around Young. Once they can get someone to take the pressure off of him (and he matures a little more), they are going to have a good team. They need another playmaker.
I was especially impressed with their play in spite of their injuries. That (to me) shows a lot of heart.
Greg,

He got it on a second effort, I thought it looked like an awesome play. Nowhere did his knees touch. The officials were right not to blow the whistle, until the ball crossed the plain.

And they are not too popular. (At least not around here.)
The Colts got to listen to Rivers minimize the fact that they were "ever so lucky" that Vinitieri screwed up an easy kick. But they all knew in their hearts, they should have lost that game.
Not too many are happy right now and I wouldn't put it past the Colts defense to put some hits on old Philip, Sunday. I look for them to swarm him on passing downs.
SD is about to learn not to talk smack about a team that hands you a win, because you may have to face them in the playoffs.
I've never seen such a mediocre QB as Rivers shoot his mouth off so much. I surely hope the Colts shut that big trap of his.
Here's another guy with a big mouth: Jags DE Spicer. In September, he said the Patriots didn't deserve to be in the playoffs and suggested all their accomplishments were a fraud. Yesterday, he said he stood by his comments "100%". Thank you Mr. Spicer! Then someone sent me to the Jags' official website power rankings:

Notice the asterix.
Thank you "Jagwires"!! :)

He does the same thing when he is here playing Indy. He is from Indy and has a chip on his shoulder because the police haven't solved his brother's murder from a few years ago.
Peterson runs his mouth too. He is still bitter over the split with the Colts a few years back, Geez-o-pete, let it go.
They are their own worst enemy. They should shut up and play, then talk smack after they win.
I still think the Jags are the third best team in the league though. The Pats better be prepared to get hit hard, because they do hit like freight trains. Winning the game and putting out hard hitting efforts are two entirely different things.
The Colts players always feel a little sorer after playing Jacksonville and Denver.
