Saying Bernard Madoff enjoys a "gilded penthouse incarceration," civil rights activist Al Sharpton led a rally outside the accused swindler's Manhattan home on Saturday urging equal justice for the rich and poor.
Sharpton and about 30 other demonstrators protested that Madoff was being allowed to remain free pending trial while poor people with no access to top legal representation languished in prison for relatively minor infractions.
"There must be one standard for all, and not one based on income," Sharpton said at the protest on Manhattan's affluent Upper East Side.
How about when Rev. Extortion was found to have owed over a million in taxes? Was he incarcerated? Just asking. Maybe Al would be better served by finding another Tawanna Brawley hoax to run up in the news, only to get sued in civil court by a prosecutor for making defamatory statements.
Not that Madoff doesn't deserve some scrutiny for his current housing situation. But to have a tax cheat and liar bring this to the public's attention only makes it a laughing stock for people, who have some measure of integrity.

Thanks for posting this. Without the right wing blogs the moron Sharpton's coverage would dry up.
Why not ignore this clown?
I saw him grabbing a few photo ops with Caroline Kennedy and right then I hoped that spelled the end for her and it apparently helped.
The guy is a non entity kept alive primarily by the right. Leftists know better than to be seen with him.
Ducky,
I seriously doubt this guy is going away, with or without attention. He's an opportunist.
He muscles in on stories that have nothing to do with him or his sphere of influence. He's based in New York, but certainly didn't have any trouble finding his way down to Jena LA, when those six thugs were in jail for brutally beating an innocent kid that had nothing to do with why they claim they were upset.
How are you going to ignore someone like that? The story is already a legitimate one and now here comes Bro. Al and his NAN threatening everyone that has anything to do with whatever he deems is wrong.
Personally, I think he will really step in it someday. He'll get his just dessert.
Did you see this piece of hypocrisy?
"We say to French companies that the time has come to return to Iraq"

At a press conference Tuesday, Sarkozy stressed the importance of France's role in improving relations between Iraq and the West, particularly Europe.
"It is now that we must help Iraq, it's now that we must commit," he said, according to Agence France-Presse.
Yeh and the bodies of our soldiers are not even cold yet before you swoop in like a vulture to do business.
Classic, Rocket.
It's just like when you are moving. A friend shows up just as you are putting the last pieces of furniture onto the truck, and says "need any help?"
Hi Rocket !
Geez, one can one expect from M. Sarkozy, France's Prozac President ? It's clear that he suffers from ADD. He'll probably do a 100% u-turn by the end of this week.
Best,
L'Amerloque
