Hillary And China: Back Scratching For Dollars

From Bloomberg comes this report:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged China to continue buying U.S. Treasury bonds to help finance President Barack Obama’s stimulus plan, saying “we are truly going to rise or fall together.”

“Our economies are so intertwined,” Clinton said in an interview today in Beijing with Shanghai-based Dragon Television. “It would not be in China’s interest” if the U.S. were unable to finance deficit spending to stimulate its stalled economy.

Amazing that it would come to this. Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State having an economic dialogue with China to keep our deficit spending going. This is like going to the bank while behind on your mortgage, car payment, several credit cards, and having the audacity to ask for more money.

She is right in one sense. It would be in their best interests to sink more money into us, because most of the things we get now come from China. When we stop buying, they stop making.

But the biggest problem I have with this entire conversation has nothing to do with any of the common sense talk about fiscal responsibility or debt. I just cannot help but wonder what state secrets she was willing to share with China, this time around.

Los Alamos was a long time ago. Most of that technology has been realized and developed, time to catch them up to speed again. They need it and we need to finance another Democratic spending spree. This is called back scratching for dollars.

The best part about her comments was when she said that human rights can't get in the way of solving the financial crisis. Nice. Imagine if a Bush Administration official had said such a thing. It sends a great message about where America stands: don't worry Sudan, China, N. Korea, Iran, al Qaeda - we're worried about out wallet now, so go ahead and do your thing, as long as you don't bug us directly....

The overwhelming truth is the government has no right to obligate the American people to irresponsible (deficit) spending. We are clearly on the eve of orthodox communism in this country; I cannot see any good result from the program. I am both disgusted and depressed with the reality that the American people have brought it upon themselves.

I was about to say they are on the same ideological wavelength anyway.

CNN ran a headline news story today about 3 Chinese nationals killed by some scumbag American driver and they allowed people to praise the Chinese and how they would have taken care of the burial, fees, etc. Well, they are COMMUNISTS after all. But some people will read that and bob their heads up and down.

Tienaman Square is a distant memory now.

I would desperately try not to, but if forced to I can see:

1. Lead story on all three networks' evening newscasts.

2. MoveOn.Org would take aout a full page ad in the NYT saying Bush supports Chinese tyrants.

3. Chris Matthews would devote the next week to the story.

4. Richard Gere would be organizing a telethon.

5. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would be castigating Bush in daily remarks for the next two weeks.

6 Etc. etc. etc.

Like you and many others, I find nowhere in the US Constitution gives them this right. But no one has challenged this anywhere along the way.

Not surprising in the least. 9-11 is a distant memory to many.

Imagine a Sec of State encouraging our buying Chinese...
Used to be BUY AMERICAN!

But, they probably own us, state secrets, and a time share with Joe Biden by now.
I'm not quite sure what that means, but...I'm leaving it!

A time share with Joe Biden? What did the Chinese ever do to you? ;)
