I am not sure what is different, except for the fact that you can see what is coming at you. Fatah hates Israel, Hamas hates Israel. Hamas provides a lot charity to the people, Fatah screws the people.
Although I question the numbers, the CFR puts the amount of expenditures on charity by Hamas at 90 percent. A lot of that money comes from Iran, that much is certain. But even if that number is correct ( like I said, I have my doubts), it means that 10 percent is spent on killing innocent Israelis. I think that negates whatever good they do for their people.
At least I think so.

I think that figure is too high. But according to a friend who grew up in Lebanon (Her father was an American diplomat, I believe), Hamas does indeed do much charity work. She believes that Hamas's charity work gives the organization much leverage with the general population.

Israel has known all along. And returning land hasn't done one damned bit of good, IMO. The true desire of Hamas is to eliminate Israel as is the desire of Iran.
I watched live coverage of goings on in Gaza and West Bank yesterday. I cringed and finally had to turn off the television.
I don't see any good coming out of the Hamas's election to power because I don't see that world leaders will take the proper course of action (See the sample speech which Jason posted in his comments section--I don't hear any leader saying that!).
Israel's safety is more tenuous than ever. Iran's ties to Hamas only make the whole situation much worse.
It's depressing.

I just heard on the news that Hamas is going to stick by its goal--the annihilation of the nation of Israel. This appears to have been an official announcement on the part of Hamas.
Thanks AOW, for your input, which is always welcome here. I'd say that there is a good possibility of civil war in the Palestinian territories.
Whatever their ideological backgrounds are, once they take office, they have to adapt themselves to the reality. At this stage, it is not clear whether Hamas can do it or not.
Shah, I agree with you, in that Hamas must now govern.
Leading the Palestinian people will not be easy, especially without EU and US aid.
