Forest Jihad In Australia Fires? Is America Next?

Forest jihad by fire, is a distinct possibility in considering the rash of fires that are sweeping through Oz right now.

Firefighters and homeowners aren't the only ones keenly watching Australia's massive wildfires, responsible for killing at least 173 people in the southern part of the continent.

Terrorism experts suspect Muslim extremists are watching closely, too — and taking note of the devastation.

There are some who will say this is over the top. And while it hasn't been proven, it is not something that should be blown off. We know that authorities believe some of the fires are the work of arsonists. But they are stopping short of saying they suspect any of these blazes are the work of terrorist organizations:

While Australian authorities have revealed no evidence linking the wildfires to extremists, terrorism experts say the large death toll, the huge swath of destruction and the massive financial blow to the country are proving to Islamic terrorists that arson can be a highly effective — and simple — tool of holy war.

In November, an extremist Web site called on Muslims to launch a "forest jihad" in Australia, Europe, Russia and the United States. The posting, which quoted imprisoned Al Qaeda terrorist Mustafa Setmariam Nasar, said setting forest fires was legal under "eye-for-an-eye" Islamic law.

"Scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels' forests when they do the same to our lands," the posting read.

This should be a red hot tip for Americans and frankly, it should concern anyone that lives in an area that may suffer some level of drought conditions. Other larger scale options for terrorists have been thwarted or are not logistically possible at this time. But this one has a low overhead and endless potential targets, when dry conditions are so widespread. All they need is a couple gallons of gasoline, a lighter, some wind, and dry vegetation out in the middle of nowhere.

I am even more apprehensive after reading this little tidbit from the Federal Register:

I don't know about you, but I think we are going to markedly increase our risk of attack if Palestinians can simply claim refugee status, to gain entry to live in the United States. Who knows whether this will bring in a wave of arsonists waiting for summer?

I'd put more money on enviro-terrorists trying to gin up more sympathy for global warming laws than AQ.

Maybe. It certainly makes sense, either way. Still, that executive order allowing for Palestinian refugees is very troubling.

/// GOP Lawmaker Calls for Probe of Obama Decision to Oversee Census

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is calling for an investigation of President Obama's decision to move the census into the White House.

…/…

"I'm deeply concerned" about "the White House controlling the day-to-day operations of the Census Bureau," Blackburn told FOXNews.com.
In a draft of the letter, Blackburn said Obama's plan "may jeopardize the important and nonpartisan work product of a sensitive administrative agency, and potentially disrupt completion of a competent, reliable 2010 census.

"The American people deserve a non-partisan census in 2010, and we hope the committee will ensure that goal comes to fruition by holding an oversight hearing on the administration's potential plans to reduce the future secretary of commerce's authority over the agency," she wrote. …/… ///

Even the Egyptians don't want the "Palestinians." Why the hell should we take them? They made their bed - let them sleep in it with their Iranian friends.

Z, I have bouts with insomnia mostly in the summer when the days are long. Other than the nicotine withdrawals of late (which once made me feel like invading and overthrowing the government of Rhode Island, the other day), I don't have any trouble sleeping. It's simply not worth it.

Maybe Greg could enlighten us as to how difficult it would be to get this thing in the court system so we can get it to the SCOTUS before 2010. I am not sure and investigation will materialize when so much power is consolidated in Washington right now.

Since the new administration wants to be an FDR, maybe we can have a Schecter vs. United States of our own.

In circles of intelligent thinkers this is a red-flag if there ever was one. In the other circles, this doesn't even show up on the radar.

I am with you. Iran, along with Saudi Arabia and other neighboring Arab states have had a major hand in creating this monster, let them take the refugees.

Not sure Blackburn (from the district right next to mine) has much of a leg to stand on here since the Census is part of the executive branch, although I applaud her for bringing the story to light where it might get some needed "sunshine".
