United States aid for the Gaza Strip's reconstruction will likely top $900 million, an official said, as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton prepared to make her first Mideast trip as America's top diplomat.
Israeli and Palestinian officials said Monday that Clinton will visit Israel and the West Bank during the first week of March. Clinton said during her Asia trip last week that she would attend an international donors conference in Egypt on March 2 to discuss reconstruction in Gaza.
She provided no other details, but a U.S. official in the United States said Monday that the Obama administration's donation will be at least $900 million in humanitarian and rebuilding aid to the Palestinian Authority to help Gaza recover from Israel's offensive against Hamas last month.
Close to one billion dollars will be leaving a strapped economy and a government that hasn't got an ounce of brains, all because Hamas launched attacks from Gaza and Israel took them out. Anyone with a dimwit's intelligence can easily see it will be another colossal waste of money, because this fragile cease fire is not going to last.
Already today, it is being reported that Hamas has launched another rocket attack into Israel. So can anyone tell me just how wise this expenditure is going to prove to be, if we throw this money away and Israel ends up blowing it all up again?
Besides the fiscal irresponsibility angle of this idiotic move, who really believes this is going to make these people like us? Let's see a show of hands.
The French have pretty much worked as hard as anyone trying to kiss the Muslim nations' derrieres and they are not given any special treatment when their citizens visit one of those countries. Evidence to this claim can be found here in this story.
The French teenagers had finished a day touring Cairo's 650-year-old Khan el-Khalili bazaar, gathering in its main square to board a bus back to their hotel. Then the blast went off.
The explosion killed a 17-year-old girl with the group and wounded 24 other people, most of them fellow students. According to the government account released Monday, a bomb had been planted underneath a stone bench on which the girl was sitting.
The Sunday night blast was the first attack in three years targeting foreigners in Egypt, and it raised fears of a blow to the country's vital tourism industry, which is already suffering from the global economic downturn.
The attack shocked the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, hometown of the more than 40 high school students who were on a tour of Egypt. "We are faced with a dreadful drama," the suburb's mayor Patrick Balkany told France's RTL radio on Monday.
Terrorists do not see Western nations as anything but an enemy and certainly are not willing to award any special treatment because any of them are willing to appease and understand their violent demands. So it stands to good reason that $900 million will not have any effect on the average citizen's opinion about America.
Frankly, it will be be seen as compensation for supporting the evil Jews, and will only open the door for demanding/expecting more in the future. The money pit in this case is a bottomless one, because the beast that lives in it will get hungrier and will need to be fed more as times goes on.
Just enter this as dumbass move # 136, by the Obama Administration. One month down, 47 more to go.

American aid for construction in the Gaza strip seems to me about the most illogical, idiotic ideas I have ever heard. It causes me to ask, WTF????
Why should we be surprised? "The One" can leap tall buildings and spend our tax money on idiocy better than anyone.

Could you elaborate, please?
The girl had it coming? Is that your point?
Can you tell us what the French did or did not do to fight islamic terrorism?

I don't know who you are and believe me when I say this, it's the least of my worries in this world. But how the hell you ever got any kind of a message that I take one ounce of glee from what happened, is way beyond me.
I would love nothing more than to answer and debate whatever you want here, to include the second part of your question. But first, you need to lose the chip on your shoulder. If you would search this blog out, you'd see that I don't do French bashing here. 99% of the posts here do not even involve France. And if you had any courage at all, you'd put the name you use at SF's site and have the decency to post here what you posted there. (Which is about as wrong as you can get.)
Put this into your psyche and analyze it all you want, you can know right here and now that I take no glee in anyone losing their lives.

One wonders what in the hell their parents were thinking when they sent their children to tour estremistan.
Beyond that, I suspect the writer supposes that in sections of France, where Muslim extremists dominate large neighborhoods, areas in which even police will not enter without the company of heavily armed cohorts, tolerance for radicalism only encourages extremists to do their dastardly work. If the people and government of France had any balls, if they had addressed this issue at home forcefully without equivocation, maybe the extremists would at least think twice before attacking school children.

No need to hide.
Since I don't have a blogger account, here's the pseudo I use on SF:
mitch.
" the US have sucked up to the emirs as much as anyone else which did not protect NYC from Saudian terrorism."
I call the above disgusting xenophobic anti-americanism. What do you think?
As for having a chip on the shoulder, may I suggest that you take a reality check on anti-terrorism, unless of course you already have facts to back your statements.
One more thing for Eric Cartman:
"If the people and the government of the USA had any balls, they would have kicked the depraved emirs and supported the French when the Algerian Islamic Salvation Front was attacking France. Besides stupid US tourists would not get killed if they did not go on vacation at Charm El Cheik or take a cruise off the coast of Islamistan."
Ain't you brave to spit on the grave of a 17 year-old from behind your computer? But our host probably think your views are as "moderate" as his.
Mitch
Oh, so "anonymous" is mitch. I see you like to talk about people behind their backs, as I just took a look through S-F's forum. You and S-F should hit it off great, since I see he's been lying about me behind my back (I apparently say "kill all Muzzies", according to that unbelievable asshole/liar). I had no idea what a pansy-ass little jerk he is.
However, your statement, "the US have sucked up to the emirs as much as anyone else which did not protect NYC from Saudian terrorism," is unfortunately, true. Sucking up to terrorists and their supporters is just going to get 10-times worse under Obama, which is why you should stop so blindly supporting the jerk.
AS to the substance of the post, of course everyone knows what the terrorist "gov't" of Gaza and its farcical partner - the UN relief agency that allows Hamas to use its buildings and ambulances for its murderous puroses - is going to do with the money: suicide bombs/rockets/bullets for more murder plus money for the Hamas leaders. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Obama is either an idiot or a terrorist-supporter. We knew this would happen, didn't we?
As to the 17 year old murdered in Egypt, I cannot even imagine what the parents are going through. I lived in that town for a few years: a nice place to raise a family. I'm shocked at the number of Frenchmen who think it's safe to travel to Egypt. My in-laws just returned from a trip there, and they gave no thought at all to the danger. I would personally not travel to an arab country with my wife or child - not soon at least. I do think Iraq will be a wonderful place to visit in the not-too-distant future, thanks to the hard work of our soldiers, sailors and marines, and to the determination of the democracy-loving Iraqis who have loudly rejected terrorism and sectarianism. Unless Obama finds a way to ruin that as well....
Huh?
Greg and LAS, wake up.You and I are not very brave to use pseudonyms to post on the internet. We just happen not to be completely foolish.
Talking to people behind their back? Like explaining the death of the girl by the politic of her governement behind her parents' back? I just hope they can't read English.
What do you think of Eric Cartman's comment?
I also hope no American who has lost a relative during a terror attack in the US or overseas will read your comment. Basically you are writing that they had it coming because of the ugly oil companies and the silly US foreign policy? Sounds like some crazy leftist rhetoric to me...
I think if a foreigner had written this, you would rightfully call him a rabid anti-American and so would I. I would refrain from making that kind of statement in public if I were you.
What do Hamas, Israel and the US army have to do with terror attacks in Egypt? As for Obama I have no idea what you're talking about and don't see how this is relevant to comments linking the death of a teenager in Egypt to the international policy of a foreign governement. Unless of course you believe Obama supports Egyptian fundamentalists groups...
I'm still waiting for facts explaining when and how the French authorities sucked up to terrorists
but I don't hold my breath.
Mitch
mitch, to put it simply, lots of people (100% of 0bama supporters) have their heads in the sand regarding terrorism. They pretend like it doesn't exist. Eg., a NYT columnist today suggested the White House should stop using the word "terrorist" as if that would somehow solve the problem. They think if we send money to Hamas, the terrorists will be responsible and less murderous. They are so deluded, they think it's safe to travel to a place like Egypt, where, a recent poll reveals, support for attacks on US civilians is increasing (up to 10% now!). 87% of Egyptians support killing US troops in Iraq (that's up 4% from last year). 89% of Egyptians have a negative view of the US gov't. 64% have a negative view of the American people. More than half either wholly or partially support al Qaeda. A large majority think someone other than al Qaeda did 9/11.
http://tinyurl.com/crvt7z
We send almost $2 billion/yr to Egypt in economic and military aid, and they hate our guts.
Get it? Gazans danced in the street on 9/11. There's nothing we can do to make them like us. Sending them money is like cutting our own throat.
0bama's goal of combatting terrorists by laying prostate and saying "sorry" is such a joke. It's scary in it's naivete. It's certain to fail and - worse - make us less safe.
No one here blames the victims of terrorism. We blame the terrorists, their supporters, and naive western gov'ts (including our own).
Once again, Obama seems to miss the boat when it comes to understanding who are enemies truly are and why they are our enemies.
How do they think they will send all the money to Gaza and it now end up with terrorists? These people elected a terror organization to govern them!!! It is just too much!
Good post LA.
Mitch,
I am still waiting for you to show me where I insulted a 17 year old French girl and took delight in her death. Look the post over carefully, find it and post it here.
You are welcome to comment here anytime whether you agree or disagree with me, but like I said earlier, you need to lose the chip on your shoulder. Just because I have an opinion that is different than yours, doesn't make me a French basher.
If you so choose to engage in a debate here, be advised that this is not SF's site. He allows rudeness and ugliness to reign supreme on his site. It's his blog, he can do what he wants with it. But this is my blog, I run it differently.
//How do they think they will send all the money to Gaza and it now end up with terrorists? //
Maybe that's their ultimate goal. Launder it through the Palestinian Authority?
The French have pretty much worked as hard as anyone trying to kiss the Muslim nations' derrieres and they are not given any special treatment when their citizens visit one of those countries.
Basically you imply that the French authorities have ignored terrorism to protect their citizens. You do not provide any fact to support that claim and yes, linked to the death of the girl, your sentence means:"See how these s#~!@$s wasted their time."
If you were a relative of the victim, you would find this highly disrespectful.
As for civility on your blog as opposed to SF's, I have read a sample of Greg's idea of civilized debate posted by SF on his forum.
Does it fit your definition of rudeness and ugliness? Or is it polite fact-based civilized debate? Just asking. Thanks for your kind invitation but I wouldn't want to post anything inappropriate on your blog.
Here is a copy:
oh f(censored) the eurotrash and their thinly veiled jew hatred. f(censored) them to hell.
if i ran israel, "palestine" wouldn't exist and the "palestinians" would be in their real homeland, whether that be egypt, syria or lebanon. i'd proceed to flatten every fr(censored) building in gaza until hamas came out with their hands up or everyone was dead. then i'd claim every inch of that territory for israel. i'd tell all israel's enemies that they're next if they continue attacking.
i'd also come out and say any country that participated in the holocaust can shut the f(censored) up. that means you france. smarmy international officials from, say, the UN would only be met in places like ashkelon, where random hamas terror weapons fall aimlessly. "oh, you'd rather not meet there? why would that be?" pfff.
sh(censored), if i ran israel, the world's anti-semitic, terror-sympathizing caviar-munching left would REALLY have something to whine about.
Mitch
//The French have pretty much worked as hard as anyone trying to kiss the Muslim nations' derrieres and they are not given any special treatment when their citizens visit one of those countries.//
Nice try, but I still see nothing there that says that I am implyimg the victim had it coming. And that is what you accused me of, in you very first reaction. Go back and look at it.
//Basically you imply that the French authorities have ignored terrorism to protect their citizens. You do not provide any fact to support that claim and yes, linked to the death of the girl, your sentence means:"See how these s#~!@$s wasted their time."//
You know, it's funny how a person can take something intended to be used as an means of proving a larger point, in a larger argument, and turn it into some undignified personal insult. I do happen to believe that the French government has been soft on countries that are supportive of terrorism. But that does not equate it to "the girl had it coming", does it?
There is a message here that you and your pals refuse to see. It is far more resounding than any little "I get my feelings hurt when someone says something against the French" crusade.
At the drop of a hat, you guys who hang out at SF's go ballistic about anything negative that an American says about France. All the while, many of you engage in the same or worse behavior, while claiming some moral superiority over those that simply disagree with you.
Well, it gets old.
I don't mind a good debate, but let's drop the French bashing accusations here. Let's not play games here. What SF didn't tell you in his little 30 second recap of my experiences on his site is, I have French in my heritage. The rest, you can believe or not, makes no difference to me.
I have nothing against French people personally. Never have, never will. I am critical of their government, just like I am of my own. But turning my opinion in this particular context into something it's not is really a colossal waste of my time, and yours.
As for Greg's discourse here, he's a man, take it up with him. Considering the way you guys treated him (and others that dared to disagree with the Left Wing consensus there), it's a wonder he hasn't been more acerbic than he has.
No facts again. You have French ancestors? How nice. I don't.
So I misread you? Sorry about that. Judging from his comment so did Eric Cartman.
I'm sure you're a man and wouldn't mind explaining the girl's relatives that you didn't mean any disrespect. Good for you.
As for Greg's comment, besides its obvious entertraining value (as long as he stays safely in the US), it doesn't offend my sensibility. I've heard the same comments made by people who actually went on to do exactly what they said they would.
Simply it speaks volume about what as a blogmaster you consider to be appropriate. I can't even picture what you think is ugly and rude.
Sorry I'm not very good at profanity and have never called for mass deportation of an entire people so I guess I'm not up to the standards you expect your guests to maintain.
Bye.
Mitch
For my part, I only meant to suggest that there was a day when the French Security Forces were so feared that no one in the right mind would ever threaten or harm a citizen of France. Apparently, we have reached a kinder and a gentler time; an era where there is never any retribution for such atrocities as described in the original post. The consequences of this excessive liberalism are obvious, and tragic.
I also do not see a single inference where this blogger suggests "the kid had it coming." But then again, unlike Mitch, I'm not on a mushroom diet.

That money will do about as much good as a frigging piss hole in a snowbank! These frigging socialists have GOT to be stopped! As far as Gaza goes, when the people there throw out Hamass and try to act like normal human beings instead of fanatical bigoted muslims wanting death for all infidels and jews, well then maybe I'll give a shit about helping them. Until then, may allah rip off their heads and shit down their necks!
Mitch,
//Simply it speaks volume about what as a blogmaster you consider to be appropriate. I can't even picture what you think is ugly and rude.//
You hang out at Super Frenchie's and you have the audacity to call my blog rude? You are quite funny, if nothing else. That blog is the epitome of rude and ugly, if there ever was one. He has even driven away people that agree with his Leftist views, because he allows such nastiness. And your behavior here has only gone to prove the readers here, my point.
Look here Mr Sanctimonious, you have been reading my blog for quite awhile now. You've shown up on my stat counter long before now, and all of a sudden you NOW feel insulted for the family of someone you don't even know. All because I used an example you do not feel is appropriate? Give me a damned break, will you?
No one makes you read this blog, It wouldn't hurt my feelings if you or any of your fellow SF minions ever come here again.
Mitch, I don't see anything ugly or rude about my comment about the terrorist-run territory of Gaza or the "palestinians" in general. Have you seen what they teach their kids there? Very much like Nazi Germany/Imperial Japan. Remember what we had to do to defeat that existential threat? I mean, some of us surrendered and shipped our civilians off to be murdered by the enemy, but America and others flattened cities and did whatever dirty work was necessary to win and have peace. So it is with Israel....
Also, note that I debate the issue rather than making it personal (behind someone's back or not). I make a logical argument based upon the facts, rather than an emotional attack on a person b/c I'm offended they dare disagree with me. See the difference? Some people can't handle disagreement: they respond with ad hominems or they mock the person or they call them names. That's why I don't blog over at that other place anymore. They can't handle disagreement.
However, you should probably debate me about the comment when I make it, rather than waiting weeks/months. That would make the discussion more effective and interesting.
Hi LA
I wouldn't get too involved with debating this Mitch character. I have my own opinion on who he really is and if you start debating wih him it will never end. He starts off nice and then goes ballistic.
Anyway
Remember my advice to Greg some while back about leaving the blogging past in the past
//I wouldn't get too involved with debating this Mitch character.//
I'm not. But he's not going to come here and act like they do at SF's, plain and simple. Plus, I won't let someone twist my words into something they are not.
Believe me though, he's the least of my worries on this earth.
