A Word From Our Sponsor

A Message From Edward Whitacre Jr. The New CEO Of GM, via Bloomberg.

“I don’t know anything about cars. A business is a business, and I think I can learn about cars. I’m not that old, and I think the business principles are the same.”

I don't know about you but I would have some concerns here.

I know it's just a car business. Bottom lines are bottom lines, and deals are deals.

Still, I would be hard pressed to find any level of confidence, if a CEO of a healthcare facility would say, "I know nothing about medicine, but am willing to learn". (Let me clarify that I do not necessarily think that a physician must be over a medical institution, in fact most of them are not good businessmen. But that person should have some knowledge of how the business works, having worked in it before, at some level.)

From what we are gathering about CEO Whitacre's time in grade, he has none, nada, zilch in the automobile industry. He will have no other knowledge of the intricate details. With this being the case, maybe someone can enlighten me as to what his real function will be, if that's not it.

I will tell you what I think it means. I think this means he is being hired to cook the books. Far too often in our system, this and political paybacks for previous favors are the real objective with these kinds of appointments.

So here is your new Government Motors CEO, a man who by his own admission knows nothing about the challenge he is about to face. Acts like this will eventually cause the American people to soon realize, they really screwed up when they elected this bunch.

Happy Motoring To All.

Yet another pass for Obama. You are right about Health Care, there are degrees for health care administration. The real question here is what do his employee's think about working for him after this quote?

Can we say "Puppet?" The new CEO to Government Motors doesn't have to know anything about the industry...he will just follow orders...

*The first thought I had was "I don't know anything about surgery, but I'm willing to learn." As the new surgeon holds the scalpel over your stomach...

Chuck, I was thinking the same thing. But if the union likes him, it's a safe bet they workers will like him. Now, the engineers may be a different story.

It's not so hard. The books today have pictures. ;)

LA ... your comment above may be the scariest thing you've ever written.

He knows how to say "yes we can" to the UAW and Obama. What else does he need to know?

Context, my friend. Context. My comment follows Leslie's specific comment. In other words, SURGERY is not so hard. THE MEDICAL TEXT BOOKS today have pictures.

But more importantly, it is I who feels remarkably troubled.

Preoccupations and ruminations will affect how you view the simplest of things. I think it's time we have a family meeting with Mrs. Mustang and your children. I will share with them my concerns and hopefully we can secure the right intervention for you and your specific issues.

Don't thank me now, wait until we have gotten over the hump in this situation. Lets' concentrate on your recovery.

I think you are right. And I think even you and I would have been qualified, provided we had pleased the Supreme Soviet and the Chairman Obama.

But, just one or two of our pre-election blog posts were enough to disqualify us. Maybe even one or two paragraphs would suffice.

Silly us.

No Sunsett, you misunderstand. All of us know that somewhere in the US, a neurosurgeon is getting ready to crack a skull; a man who finished LAST in his class. Besides, Mrs. Mustang complains that every time you call a ‘family meeting,’ we end up buying the beer.
