Democracy In Action?

Not a lot of time to expound on this right now, I have another long day staring at me. But take a look at these events:

Congressman's Office Vandalized

This is a crime. It's called vandalism.

Peace Activists Take over Congressman's Office: Vow More

Depending on the feelings of the Congressman involved here, this could be a crime too. It's called trespassing.

Soldier Burned In Effigy At Portland Peace Rally

This is not a crime, it is protected free speech. But it does the activists little good, especially when you consider that the goal is peace. How does demonstrating in an angry manner against the soldiers that are sent to fight advance the cause of peace?

Is this democracy in action? Or is it merely a prime example of attempted mob rule?

Regarding the sit-in in the democratic congressman's office, I would be pretty mad too if I had voted for democrats believing them when they said they would get us out of iraq. So far, all they've done is debate non-binding resolutions and called for investigations of things that, even if true, aren't a crime (US Attny firings).

And regarding the "peace" protest in Portland, we really see how much they "support the troops" and "love America", don't we? Has anyone here ever attended one of these events in their area? Whenever I go to one, I see some really hateful stuff - usually targeted at Israel, the Jews and the administration. Someone invariably burns a US flag. They don't do anything to help their cause. Maybe if they smoked less weed while planning the event, they would be smarter about how it's conducted. Plenty of time for bong hits after protesting the war....

Greg,

Yeah Greg, I think you have a point there. Evidently four members of Code Pink are upset that Pelosi used them to gain power and she has now realized that there is no magic wand, like Rep Obey has indicated in past conversations with the unreasonable people. Pelosi may be lucky to win her next primary.

Based on some of the behaviors exhibited by the "peace marchers" last Saturday in D.C., I'm not surprised that a Congressman with "Support Our Troops" signs had his house vandalized.

Maturity is not one of their strong points.
