Public Service Announcement

More and more of these kinds stories are surfacing, everyday.

If you are driving a motor vehicle on public roads, stay off of the damned cell phone.

I disagree.

It's part of the natural selection process. It is mother nature's way of culling out the idiots in human societies lest we become over-populated with them.

Glad I could help you out with this one.

i agree with the driving-while-phoning/texting advice. but - and i don't mean to nitpick - the dead lady was a pedestrian, no? it's a little unclear....

It looks like you are right Greg. That's what happenes when you try to blog in a hurry. I just assumed it was another dumbass driver that caused a wreck while on the phone.

But never fear, here's more evidence to support my entreaty.

LAS, there's no shortage of evidence that this behavior is ridiculously dangerous. I commute about 2.5 hrs a day, and I see some seriously dumb shit going on with drivers and cell phones (not to mention drivers with rage disorder :) )

I'm utterly amazed it's still legal to text/phone and drive in the Peoples' Republic of Mass.....

Cell phones are bad enough but I am stunned people text while driving

But I repeat myself.

But what if one of those "idiot cleansing agents" kills you or someone you love? Or worse yet, lays you up in a nursing home in a body cast?

Mother nature never said that getting rid of idiots was easy or without pain. There is a price to be paid for allowing idiots to reproduce.

My car was just rear-ended last weekend when I was driving. I mean, this lady just slammed into me, going about 45 and I was moving slowly because the light at the intersection in front of me just changed to green so the cars in front of me were just going through.

The first thing I thought was that she was on her cell phone, but she said she was just talking to her son in the passenger seat and "didn't notice" me. It was daylight...my car is big and white. How can you miss it?

Point is, drivers need to keep.their.eyes.on.the.fucking.
road! Between seeing people drifting into the wrong lanes as they change their radio station, talk on the cell phone, put make-up on, and the one that really gets me....read their books, I'm surprised that more people aren't killed everyday.

The one thing I don't do is talk on my cell while driving, or any of the other stuff I wrote above. I have to keep alert and watch out for the assholes who think multi-tasking while driving is a good thing.

(Rant over)

Thou may communicate!

ME,

I have driven in Chicago and I cannot understand why more people aren't killed in crashes there. It's a wonder anyone can afford insurance there.

Just got back from Atlanta last week and it's almost as bad there.

"my car is big and white"

Now that is damn funny!

On a more serious note ME you should move to Gay Paree with this misery in the windy city! Not only do you have crappy sports teams but it's cold and windy and telephone talkers ram your big white car. It's raining Frenchmen over here (actually rained this evening and I had to sidestep a hundred guys)and I know a French intellectual who would wine and dine you and make you feel like a real lady rather than a doormat for your kids.

LA (sorry, I'm not myself tonight as I've been celebrating the Redskin's win with Bud lights since Sunday night).

So c'mon. You only live once. Make the jump.
