Iranian UNC Grad Charged With Attempted Murder

The AP is reporting this story coming out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar 22, has been charged with attempted murder after he tried to mow down some students on the campus.

Investigators have revealed that he did it to "avenge the deaths or murders of Muslims around the world". I do not know whether NC has a "hate crime" law on the books, or not. But if they do, I would say that prosecutors should seriously consider whether or not this could prosecuted as a "hate crime". Based on the information already released, it appears this very well could be the case.
