The Islamization Of The Balkans

From Wordpress.Org (via RCP) comes this very interesting article on the rise of Wahhabism in the Balkan states.

I recommend reading it for yourself. I think he glosses over some things, but overall it is an interesting read. Herein lies the crux of the matter:

Indeed, Wahhabism, a fundamentalist form of Islam prevalent in Saudi Arabia, has been actively promoted within the region's Islamic communities over the past 15 years, both by (mainly Saudi) humanitarian groups and by locals returning from religious studies in the Middle East. (Some Saudi religious charities have since been accused of involvement in terrorist financing.)

Nathalie Clayer, an expert on the topic with the French National Research Council, told the Italian online magazine Osservatorio sui Balcani in 2002 that this double import — by charities and returning students — was one of the most interesting features of the evolution of Balkan Islam in recent years, and had led to "its deep transformation." But that transformation has taken a different course in different countries.

In a previous post on PYY, I posted on an author that described jihad as a three-pronged strategy.: Jihad of the sword (terrorist and urban warfare), jihad of the tongue (jihadist propaganda), and jihad of the hand (Muslim charities that raise money under the guise of humanitarianism that actually end up in terrorists' pockets). It appears that these so-called helping hands are not a big help to anyone in the former Yugoslavia, except to the radical factions that have been on the rise in the Balkans for many years, now.

This has not been a secret to everyone. Many have known it and chose to ignore it or have known about it and couldn't get an audience to tell it, because it has been explained away as an ethnic conflict by the European community, the American left, and the MSM, all for pure political purposes. They were scared to call it what it was, at the time. They feared being labeled as paranoid and islamophobic. They chose the path of least resistance, at least at that time.

Never mind that we got involved into a conflict that was manipulated by the Wahabbis. Never mind that the Europeans and the then President of the United States picked the wrong side, for a variety of reasons. The question is, how long will we allow the radical jihadist elements to metastasize, like a cancer, virtually unabated? How long will we not recognize that this movement will subvert, manipulate, and when it doen't get its way, it will castigate others into bowing to its will?

Having a hard time believing me? If so, let's take a look at something further. This is an anti-war site that has this put this into perspective and has some very interesting things to consider.
This piece was written shortly after 9/11. Be sure to read this entire essay and take note that Osama, is not the only one that has his fingerprints on this. (NOTE: Normally I wouldn't give an anti-war site much credence, but this really is something to read and consider.)

So what does all of this mean?

Europe wanted to pacify restless elements within their own borders. Siding with the Islamic forces in Bosnia and Kosovo was just that opportunity. So they hyped up the ethnic cleansing angle, villified the Serbs as evil, and pressured President Clinton to provide the bulk of the resources to go after them. Since then, the Wahabbis (and Iran) have been more emboldened and more empowered to push their agenda in the region, especially now that the Americans and the Europeans have done the bulk of their dirty work, which they were unable to do by themselves. So if you want to accuse the U.S. of aiding terrorism, this is your golden chance.

Of all the rotten choices the Clinton administration made during its tenure, this one ranks as one of the top two blunders that someday could haunt us all, if we do not wake up. (The other being, selling technology to China that could be used against us someday, saving them ten years of research on their own.) To disregard the threat of jihad (all three prongs), will be someday be the thing that destroys the civilized free world. And we won't be able to pin it all on Clinton, anymore.

one of the greatest war crimes committed by the UK and US was the bombing in serbia.

Milosovic was not a nice guy, he reacted in the wrong way we know that, but the serbian people saw thier land and historical re3jions being taken from them by albanian Muslims, this is typical Jihad by population and when critical mass of the invading people is reached, in this case Albanian Muslims the demand for the occupied land to become islamic territory become ever stronger.

This is followed by Jihad of force,
cleansing the land of infidels, this is backed up by "Taqiyya", Jihad of the tongue.

The UK an US swallowed this "taqiyya" hook line and sinker,

Bombed serbia, and ceeded the serbian lands to Islam

I think maybe they figured pacifying Bin Laden by helping him in the Balkans might give them some leverage later. It didn't work too well, for the reasons you've illustrated.

Fascinating post. It tells me I have ignored this topic too long and need to get up to speed on it.

The world is changing very quickly in such a few short years.

Hi Gandalf,

The very same thing happened in Lebanon in the early 70s. Muslim refugees were given the opportunity to settle in Lebanon, when Lebanon was a bustling and vibrant nation. Beirut had night clubs and a great tourist industry. It was even called the Paris of the middle east.

As the Muslim masses grew, so did terrorism and eventually civil war broke out AOW has a post that features info on a Lebanese woman that tells her story in this era.

You can read it here.

Also known as the Neville Chamberlain approach to foreign policy.

AICS,

Fascinating post. It tells me I have ignored this topic too long and need to get up to speed on it.

You should check out Always On Watch
and the many sites she links to. You are bound to find information somewhere on this topic and other jihadist operations over the years, and in many cases they go way back in history.

You'll not find a more valuable resource than her (and the others). She and the others that she links to, have forgotten more about Islam, than many of the rest of us will ever know. She went to a terrorism symposium in Washington last weekend and has been writing about it, a little here and a little there. It's interesting stuff, to be sure.
