A PYY Retraction: Iran Insignia Story Appears To Be Wrong

Super Frenchie has pointed out that the Iran insignia story has been pulled from Canada.Com, because the Iranian embassy has denied it. I like to be as accurate as I can, so I am publishing this retraction on the story.

But I have to tell you, it really doesn't make me feel a hell of a lot better about the situation, as it stands right now. As long as they threaten, blackmail, and browbeat others into complying with their demands, they are out of control. They need to be made to understand the consequences of continuing down this path.

If the world community does not make their stand sooner, rather than later, there will be no stopping Iran without major force. Even Russia and China will be sorry they let this get out of hand. If I were Putin and Hu, I'd really take a hard look at this, because this brand of theocracy is not their friend. If I were them, I would not sell my nation out to thugs, terrorists, and assassins for a short term deal. Because believe you me, when the time is right, they will have them so sucked in, they will be completely at the mercy, of those same jerks.

So, thanks again to Frenchie for the heads up.

I hate when I need to retract, but like you want to be accurate. Like you said just because they aren't guilty of this (yet) doesn't mean their smell like roses.

AICS,

The thing of it is, given their recent behavior, it wasn't so hard to believe.

Good thing it wasn't Dan Rather reporting it...

Seriously, 2 things:

1. The very fact that it was even discussed in Parliament, even if it was in passing, is unsettling.

2. In the correction piece, the one sentence that stands out to me is this statement by the Iran expert: "The Iranian people would never stand for it." Given what I know about Iranians (many live here where I live and I personally know quite a few), he is absolutely right.

Apparently, this story was indeed a hoax. But the tradition of forcing non-Muslims under Islamic rule to wear identifying patches goes back to 8th or 9th Century Spain; as far as I know, that location was the first in which the patches were required of dhimmis. Hitler may have adapted his yellow stars from the dhimmi tradition.

Hmmm... the Iranian embassy denies the story, thus it must be wrong!

Iran denies developing nuclear weapons, yet their President threatens to remove Israel from the map.

This might be one case where the CBS standard of journalism, "fake but accurate" applies.

You'll remember of course that the underlying assumptions of the CBS Bush National Guard story (special treatment) were never shown to be true, along with the obvious forged documents.

But the underlying pattern coming out of Iran has direct parallels to the rise of Nazism that led to world war II and the deaths of nearly sixty million.

Even more scary is the parallel among those on the left. Jump all over this story and try and use it to justify a policy of appeasement towards an aggressive and nuclear armed Iran.

Looks like history will repeat itself unless we're ready to face the painful reality of acting BEFORE it is too late.

Unfortunately, they are not the ones running the show. The people in Iran that long for more freedom from the mullahs and this psychopathic president are oppressed and their candidates are denied the opportunity to run for office.

You may very well be right on this one. I think I read this somewhere, awhile back. Can't remember where though.

Mike, I wouldn't trust them to give me the score of a ball game. I certainly do not take this denial at face value, either.

SF,

Thanks. At least now, maybe we can sleep with just one eye open.
