McQ has a piece on Q and O about the some of the diplomatic methods that Chirac uses to make friends.
I read the story over the weekend and instead of getting upset, I just wrote it off as comments from a French politician that has been nothing more than an enormous failure, even by French standards. Chirac is through and now we are seeing a certain bitterness that one sees in a jilted lover. He is a lame duck and he knows it.
