My posts are sometimes hard on France. It's not becaue I hate the average French citizen. I just don't like the leftists that have hijacked the country, like they are trying to do here. Add to that the arrogance of Chirac and his Gaullist group, and you can easily see why I criticize them so much.

You know, we got more cooperation from a socialist (Mitterand), than the so-called conservative Chirac.

The meaning of conservative changes from one country to another. In foreign policy, it implies Gaullist. In domestic policy, it means strong bureaucracy. Like Japan, the political economy of this country is dominated by elitist bureaucrats.

This is completely different from Anglo-American conservative.

It is a pity that France clashes with the US and Britain so often. Actually, they share common values with Americans and British.
