Ann Coulter's Folly

If you read this blog with any regularity, you may already know that I am not a fan of Ann Coulter. She is not my favorite person in the political commentary community, and she never has been. I have criticized her overbearing and offensive words before. And I am about to do it again.

To put it mildly, I am not impressed.
But, for some reason, talk shows seem to want her to be a guest and she is still making the rounds. Don't ask me, why? I just know, I wouldn't have her on my show. Her "I want it my way or I'll take my ball and go home" attitude is wearing thinner and thinner as this campaign advances. And it's not just her, you can count talk-show host Rush Limbaugh as being among that same crowd.

Her latest tangential complaint is that there isn't any difference between John McCain and the two remaining Democrat candidates, and it is both asinine and insane. And she spends an inordinate amount of time, telling us that she plans to vote for Hillary.

Hillary is, shockingly enough, the most conservative candidate among the top three presidential candidates.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell once remarked that his people would rather vote for Beelzebub than Hillary Clinton.

He didn't mention John McCain.

Pat Buchanan says if McCain is the nominee, the Republican Party will lose its soul. I'm more worried about the Republican Party losing its mind.

Earth to Ann: George Bush was no true conservative and you supported him. How much money do you think he has spent with nothing to show for it?

I know the Dems would have us all believe Bush was a fascist, right-wing conservative neocon. We have heard it for the last seven years, from all of his detractors. But if we examine Bush's record on spending, we can see that he hasn't exactly been a model of a (so-called) Ronald Reagan conservative. So, you can see why I have to ask Ms Coulter, what gives?

So what if McCain can reach across the aisle once in a while, what's that mean? It means that the law of averages must be in play, because the law of averages dictates that one party cannot be wrong 100% of the time. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. The truth is, not all Democratic ideas are insane. A lot of them are, but no one can claim total disaster (any more than one can claim moral and intellectual superiority).

The idea that everyone that wins the sacred Republican nomination must fit inside some little square box that she has drawn, is utterly ridiculous. She is not the party chief. She is but one voice that has the right to throw her vote away, so she can be right.

So in closing, I say this one last thing to Ms. Coulter:

Go ahead, vote for Hillary. And if Obama wins the nomination, vote for him. But save the " I'd rather have a Democrat screw the country up, more than a Republican", for the tavern. Someone there, just might believe you.

I think her thinking is that McCain will change the GOP away from the party of Reagan/Bush 43 and back towards a Bush 41, Ford party. That's what happens when everything is seen through the political strategy glass. THAT, is what most people are tired of and is the reason Obama has garnered so much support.

All four of those men worked with a Dem controlled Congress, they had to. That's why I cannot understand why Limbaugh and Coulter have been so vehemently opposed to McCain, given the reasoning they have chosen to give.

The issue then becomes, do we want a Dem controlled Congress at the same time we have an Obama or Hillary rubber stamping all tax and spend legislation, and a rubber-stamping Senate for all of the judicial nominations? Two years is a long time to wait for a chance to take back Congress and a lot of damage can be done in that amount of time.

The reason they keep having Coulter on is embedded in your question - people tune in to see what crazy thing she will say next. She's made a good living being a television version of a shock-jock.

When that well runs dry, we'll see her in Playboy.

The timing of Anne’s statement(s) comes couldn’t come at a worse time — just when I’ve gotten to the point in my life when “Blonde” jokes appear completely unjustified or unwarranted.

Ft. Riley KS. Nothing like being out in the field with sunflowers all around you in 100 degree heat, while 155 howitzers pierce your eardrums when you are caught with your earplugs out. They had to have a medic on the range, so many times it was me.

Ft. (Mother) Rucker in AL wasn't as bad, but definitely wasn't Europe. By that time I was a section sgt and I sent the damn medics out to the range for the cobra training. At least I could get to Panama City in a couple of hours from there.

Certain noted Republican pundits are doing too much whining about McCain.

Now, I'm not a fan of McCain's--not by a long shot. I've even read that Soros is financing him, but I don't know if that is true or merely a rumor.

Limbaugh and Coulter need to curb their tongues. Furthermore, a third-party candidate (I'm not referring to Nader) will split the vote and give the victory to the Dems.

At this point, McCain is the most conservative candidate we have to prevent Obama and/or Hillary taking control of the executive branch.
