Recovery Summer

Strike up the band let the parades begin. It's now officially summer and the Administration is kicking off a huge sales-pitch promotion called Recovery Summer.

I am sure there will be bands, cookouts, celebrations, and parties everywhere..... except in the Gulf Region:

The oil washing up on the Gulf Coast is threatening to suffocate local businesses. As Katie Couric reports, it could be years before they find out exactly how much the spill is costing these businesses.

And I doubt there will be a lot of hiring in the new housing industry:

Sales of new homes collapsed in May, sinking 33 percent to the lowest level on record as potential buyers stopped shopping for homes once they could no longer receive government tax credits.

So much for the Recovery Summer....

....and the band played on.

You mean TARP and stimulus didn't work? Well, I'll be damned!

I can't imagine closing down existing deep water rigs in the Gulf, and sending their workers home - as BHO and Salazar want - is going to help matters down there either.

Hm. Maybe a highfalutin speech by BHO, followed by a ceremonial bowing to the oil slick, will help.....

Just remember guys: all these problems were inherited by BHO; Republicans without control of anything are preventing him from fixing any of the problems; and he needs to play at least 18 holes of golf a week to deal with the stress of failing at everything....

I'm sure if that oil slick was on his favorite golf course, Obama would jump to action!

I'm sure Obama will take care of that mess...he'll be hiring all the illegal aliens to do it, full price with benefits. And just to sweeten the pot, if they help clean up the oil, they'll be able to vote for him in the next election.

Greg, I think you are putting too much pressure on him. He has only been in office for 17 months. Can't undo the 8 years of thoroughly reckless damage done by the Bush administration until the 7th year of an Obama Presidency.

By that time, the days of Escape from NY and the Road Warrior will be played before our very eyes. Think of it as freedom, from our freedom.

Now see....ME is onto something here. She must have known Obama has played many a golf game while screwing the people of Chicago and Illinois, for many years before doing it on a national level....long before WE ever knew him.

If anyone has a right to be sarcastic around here on this matter.....it's her. As sarcastic I get about this bozo and the stupid stuff he does, I can only imagine how I'd be if I were ME.

LA-Obama was always a slacker, even during his days as an "organizer". I remember reading an article about him where a guy who worked as a community organizer said that the only time they saw Barack was when there was a camera present. Then he showed up, dressed in a suit and tie, mugging for the camera and taking credit for their hard work. They used to make fun of the way he dressed, almost as if he was trying to prove what a success he was...very elitist.

I know, I should dial down my disgust for that guy, but he's always been a phony and for the life of me, I couldn't understand why so many people bought into his orchestrated speeches. You would think that those who lived in Illinois would have been aware of his voting record before they voted for him. And the fact that I would rather vote for a Republican for President must say something about this (past) dyed in the wool Democrat, eh? ;-)

(Yikes! Tornado sirens going off! I knew I shouldn't have wasted all that time cleaning house today! :-D )

Mary Ellen,

1. I have no trouble believing your account of Obama in his up and coming days.

2. You shouldn't dial anything down. Your disgust is justified.

3. I hope your house stays clean. I hate these damned storms too.

The other night we had one fueled by the Energizer Bunny. It kept going and going and going. Lightning strikes everywhere, the dog was glued to me, the wind, the rain. Over and over. Thought it would never end.

Finally, it did. I fell back asleep, only to be awakened by another one two hours later.

LA- Looks like the funnel cloud passed right over my house but never touched down. I think I might have a pic of it...should have been in the basement but I couldn't resist a quick look.

Right now we have a combination of pea-green with a huge rainbow shooting right through it. It's as if my whole backyard is glowing. Really strange. I tried to get it on film but my camera is filtering out the glow and the rainbow won't show up very well. Just enough lightening strikes to keep me indoors, though.

Recovery Summer, huh?

It's all a bunch of bs pr.

Often, Americans do fall for such crap before elections. But, this time, the pr may not work. America is catching on as to what this administration really is -- at least, such is my hope.

LA,
Excellent post. I'll be linking to it first thing Monday morning.

I hope M-E shows us some pics of the funnel cloud, if she caught it. So cool!

Greg- I have so photo's but they didn't turn out that well, the lighting was not good. But I do have one where you can see the the distance a bit of the funnel floating in the sky. I only need to get the pics downloaded on my computer. Not sure how to get them in a blog post, however.

The coolest part was when the storm was over and there was very dark pea green skies on one side and the sun shining on the other side which made the entire sky look as if it was gold and shimmering. when I went into my backyard, it was really eerie and cool...bright yellow/gold bouncing off the trees and patio. Again, the camera couldn't catch the color but everyone in the neighborhood was talking about it.
