Those of you that read this blog and believe that understanding a state like North Korea is the key to some kind of altruistic enlightenment that will lead to peace in the world, need to read this very sad story.

Kim Jong "Ill" has destroyed his country, and China, South Korea, Japan, and even the US to some extent have let it happen.
China doesn't think there is a problem that they can't handle. But what China may not realize is NK tried to sell missiles to Taiwan, behind China's back. (At least that's what one defector has said, since he escaped.)
China is exhibiting much arrogance, if they think that are not vulnerable.
In my unprofessional opionion, I think China's plan is for NK to crumble, let China increase their boarders by unifying with their "Socialist Brothers", then Putin will develop a stratigic relationship between Russia and China. Then S. Korea, Japan, Tiwan.... watch out. A new Manchurian Socialist Republic will be born...
I don't know if the economy will ever be socialist. I honestly believe they will all lose too much money, if they all allow NK to sway them back to a Maoist agrarian socialist economy.
But you are right. If they align politically and militarily, it could get testy.
