Here is a snippet:
...while Germany's Eurosnob elite wines and dines President Hu, there will be no angry mass protests or cries of indignation on German streets. There will be no rainbow flags embroidered with "PACE" accompanied by Tibetan and Taiwanese flags. There will be no peace drums, silent vigils or burning of Hu Jintao effigies. There will be no courageous speeches on morality or human rights in front of thousands of drunk and screaming marchers. There will be few if any indignant editorials condemning President Hu in leading German papers, magazines or news broadcasts.
That about says it all.
This is precisely why continental Europe has its priorities so screwed up, they can't see straight. China never helped liberate Europe. They haven't done a thing, to promote the human rights that is the staple of the precious EU's platform. Yet, he gets treated like a king.
But from the sounds of things, he won't get everything he wants handed to him, on a silver patter. Incoming Chancellor Merkel has reportedly told him that she will not support the lifting of the arms embargo. The AFP has the story.
Good for her.

The "mole hill" protestors of EU and US have no concept of the "mountain". It is like embracing cancer while denouncing a cold.
My analogy is not flawless as mole hill and cold give the impression of something wrong on a small scale, but that is not the case. Our cause in Iraq and capitalistic way of life are to be admired, not protested.
No nation that survived ever "gave love a chance." The United Kingdom and United States have given up their young for the freedom of people who (a) do not appreciate the sacrifices on their behalf, or (b) have taken the concept of democracy to its most ludicrous level. Responsible Americans and their British cousins cherish freedom, not anarchy . . . and we, more than any European nation, understand that freedom is never free.
The masthead of my blog contains this quotation by Air Marshall Sir John Slessor: "It is customary in democratic societies to deplore expenditures on armaments as conflicting with the requirements of social services. There is a tendency to forget that the most important social service a government can do for its people is to keep them alive and free."
Truer words may not have ever been spoken. Of course, those of the left (wrong) persuasion could never understand this . . .
"It is like embracing cancer while denouncing a cold."
Looks like a good analogy to ME.
"There is a tendency to forget that the most important social service a government can do for its people is to keep them alive and free."
A BIG tendency, in this day and age.
