Cynthia McKinney Case To Go To Grand Jury

With a hat tip to RCP, here is an excellent piece on the Cynthia McKinney case from the Chicago Tribune.

I will say that it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the behavior of Ms. McKinney, is deplorable and it should be condemned. But as usual, the Democratic leadership will wait for poll results before any of them have the guts to do it.

If the polls show that most of the country (to include Democrats) feel the same way, they will come out publicly against her. If they show that many of their constituents feel she is in the right, they will remain silent and try to ignore the bad press that is building behind this incident. Such are the deep seated values of the vast majority of the Democratic party.

But in my view, anyone that does not have enough respect for law enforcement to refrain from striking him/her during official police business, does not deserve to represent anyone, at any level of government. But that aside, she deserves to have her say in court, which means that she needs to be charged and arrested.

The latest reports have the case going to a grand jury tomorrow.We shall see how this turns out, watch for reckless accusations to continue, if she is indicted.

I will say, the longer she digs in, the more damage she does to herself and her party. And, the longer the Democratic leadership stays silent, the more damage they do to themselves. (You'd think they'd have better sense to allow their reputations to slide south, by letting this ridiculous "racism" claim go unchecked. But, up to this point, they have yet to display any kind of sense in this situation.)

Many of us know that Ms. McKinney is a very bitter woman, anyone with any psychological assessment skills can see it. I watched her on Fox, this morning and she wouldn't interview. She had no defense and she knew it, so she filibustered the interview, talking about things that had no bearing on the case, whatsoever. The arrogance was flowing, the overconfidence was apparent. But the integrity was absent and nowhere to be found. That alone may not be enough for court, but it was plenty for me. After years of learning and practicing the art of reading people, I can tell she's wrong and she knows it.

But I also know how Washington works, a public apology and a little humble pie can go a long way at times. If she would have done that early on, this thing would have went away, by now. But clearly it isn't likely to happen now. Yet, in spite of all this, the thing that would have clearly ensured this thing didn't get this far, was to NOT have slugged the cop to start with.
