not surprised. They are desperately trying, because they really think that many who support Bush are just scared to switch sides.... well, we will see in the comming elections.

Midterms will tell the story.

What's the problem with the picture? He's an ashamed Republican--so he's been contributing to Democrats. He'd be much more the hypocrite if he held up that sign and was giving money to Bush/Cheney and the RNC.

Did anybody ask the guy why he was there, why he was holding up the sign, why he contributed to the Democrats? No? Perhaps he's disgusted at the "conservatism" that the Bush/Cheney/Frist/DeLay cabal push (bigger government! government meddling in you personal life! Rampant corruption and fatal incompetence!). Methinks the "desperation" is situated more on the right than the left these days.

Gene,

Did you read the post, I linked to?

Yup, I did. He contributed to Democratic candidates. Doesn't make him a Democrat, registered or otherwise. All the post you linked to says is that he gave money to Democratic candidates over the last 8 years or so. Big deal. Maybe he contributed to Republicans too (some people like to hedge their bets).

Is the guy a hypocrite? Possibly. Is he a nut? Ehh. Is he part of the Global Liberal Media Conspiracy? Seems iffy. I mean, the guy shows up with his sign, what's the guarantee he ends up getting his picture in the paper? If he's there desperately hoping to get some media exposure, it seems more pathetic than sinister. Who's really gonna care? The President's poll numbers show that lots of Republicans feel what that sign says.

Then again, with all the bad news for Republicans the last few weeks, and Bush selecting yet another crony to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, those signs are going to be more and more in demand. Maybe he's just a marketing genius looking to make some big bucks...and therefore a Republican after all.

It's certainly is his right to do whatever he wants. I have no problem with that.

No offense, but you seem a little naive about politics. I have worked on campaigns for a mayor, a state representative, and a state campaign for President. I have worked in government at the local, state, and federal levels. I know what tactics are used by both parties, I know what is real and what is not. And, I have the right to point out what is not real and what is not real about it.

This guy is not real. He was a plant for photo-op purposes only. That was my whole point in the post and I am sticking with it, because you are going to have a very difficult time proving to me, anything else, without some evidence to the contrary.

You, on the other hand, are free to agree or disagree.

You can have the last word on this, if you wish. Or, you can move up the chain of posts and try your arguments on something else.
