Dutch Threat Substantial: Dutch Government

Click on the title for the complete AP story.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The Dutch government introduced a U.S.-style terrorism threat indicator Friday which says there is a "substantial" chance of a terrorist attack in the Netherlands.

The question is what will they do about it? It's one thing to announce it.

The position of Terrorism Combat Coordinator was created last year following the 2004 Madrid train bombing and the discovery of several radical Muslim networks in the Netherlands.

It's one thing to create a position and fill it. But what will the TCC do about it? Talk is cheap. Eye wash is superficial.

The murder of Theo Van Gogh was the opening salvo in the Dutch war with Islamism. I hope the authorities there are not making the same mistake as London did, that is, ignoring the undermining of their culture until explosions occur.

The Muslim-immigration numbers in The Netherlands is pretty astounding, and the extemists are already in place there. Of course, there is a threat!

BTW, I hate such announcements. They are made as if to say, "We can't do anything about it. Get ready to take it. And don't blame the government, despite the fact that we didn't recognize a threat early enough to prevent an attack."

As you said, Talk is cheap. Appropriate action is needed! The first is to do some risk-profiling, which is not pc, of course. But such profiling will save lives.

Three-pointer from downtown, count it, and you go to the line. This is exactly what this means. You make an excellent point that will go unnoticed, by many.

They have learned from our Govnt. Even if you cant stop it, everyone will give you a pass as long as you "warned" them about it.

G,

They will give that pass as long as you are not the Bush administration.
