GAZA (Reuters) - Hamas gunmen in Gaza will stop attacking Israel and abide by a de facto truce, the most senior leader of the Islamic group said on Sunday after Israel resumed its policy of targeted killings of militants.

"The movement declares an end to its operations from the Gaza Strip against the Israeli occupation, which came ... in response to the assaults by the enemy," Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar told reporters in Gaza.
