If you are at all concerned about Europe, here is an article you will not want to miss or dismiss. It's called Germany, The Soft Underbelly Of Europe.

Hugo Chavez is quickly becoming the fool of the world political scene. First, he insults the Spanish people for their choice of a former PM, runs his mouth so much at a conference that the King of Spain has to tell him to "shut up", and now this little bit of showmanship.

Well, thankfully some in OPEC aren't completely crazy:

The era of OPEC political activism is over, the cartel's Secretary General Abdalla el-Badri told reporters last week. ``We are not using the oil we sell to the world as a political weapon,'' he said at a Nov. 14 press conference in Riyadh.

Money talks, sh*it walks, which is why Ahmadinejad and Chavez's wet dream will never come true.

Greg,

From the article:

//``We are not using the oil we sell to the world as a political weapon,'' he said at a Nov. 14 press conference in Riyadh.//

No, they just finance radical terror groups and withhold aid to their Palestinian brethren. So, I guess in one sense, it's true. They use the oil they sell to the world, not for political purposes, but for paramilitary ones.

Ah, well yes. I didn't exactly mean to mount a complete defense of "our friends, the Saudis." But Chavez and the Saudis - that's 2 different issues. Chavez & Ahmadinejad want to use oil directly as a weapon against America - a version of shooting off one's nose to spite one's face. The Saudis are way more sophisticated about waging war against us. In fact, we're the one's being a little irrational in our relationship with the Saudis. I know we need the oil - my car runs on gas like everyone's - but we know what they do with the money, and yet we do little to change our behavior. Getting off the oil habit will kill 2 birds with one stone - drying up funds for the islamic supremacists and removing leverage from the current leaders of the so-called non-aligned movement....
