Working For What?

By now, most of us have heard the exchange between Barack Obama and the now famous plumber in Ohio.

You can hear it with your own ears here:

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream."

"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama responded. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Yeah, it's good for everyone that didn't work their asses off for it. It's good for the drug dealer that supplements his income with a government check. It's good for the lazy people that feign disabilities, like major depression, so they lay around, feeling sorry for themselves. It's great for the people that have made a life of not doing a damned thing for themselves, or anyone else.

It's not good for the person that works 15 hours a day in his/her business to make it succeed, so he/she can stay solvent and not need public assistance. It's not good for the person that studied hard, received a degree, and is now working in an honorable profession to make the world a better place. It's certainly not good for me.

If people behind me want to get ahead of me, I have a few suggestions that will ensure their future success.

Take yourselves back to school, get a degree or professional certification, and get a job that will pay you a living wage. If you are disillusioned with the corporate world, there are scores of jobs that will fill your need to contribute to our society in an altruistic manner. One career you might want to consider is the healthcare field.

Here is but one area that (unless you are thoroughly incompetent and kill someone through negligence) YOU WILL ALWAYS have a job:

Employment of registered nurses is expected to grow 23 percent from 2006 to 2016, much faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care. In addition, the number of older people, who are much more likely than younger people to need nursing care, is projected to grow rapidly.

Another reason to consider this is, the average age of registered nurses.

The aging of the RN workforce in the United States has continued. As of 2004, the average age of the total RN population (including those who are retired and not employed in nursing) was estimated to be 46.8 years. This is the highest average age since the inception of the survey, more than 1 year older than the average age estimated in 2000 (45.2 years) and more than 2 years older than the average age estimate in 1996 (44.3 years).

46.8 in 2004, and it's only getting older. And it only takes a two-year Associates Degree to get started as a RN, one year for LPNs.

Nursing not your thing? There are Radiology Technicians Technologists, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and so on. If the medical profession does not interest you, here are some others that will increase in demand in coming years.

Bottom line here, there is no excuse to not get a job and wasting your entire life waiting on government to take care of you. None at all. And if you think Barack Obama's plan to tax corporations and businesses more will allow you to laze around and be successful at doing nothing, you are sadly mistaken.

Barack Obama cares nothing about you, only your vote. Once he has that, he has free reign to do whatever he wants and that my dear readers is to keep you poor, so he will use your poverty to get him re-elected. You can trust him to redistribute wealth, he said he would and I believe him. But you cannot trust him to give YOU any of it.

Think twice before you pull that lever for him. Take charge of your own affairs and forget about government assistance as a way of life. Stop falling for the lies of the Marxists that want to turn this great nation into a nanny state, not unlike the failed empire of the Soviet Union.

Glorified welfare. It gives people initiative to sit on their butts all day and do nothing. Why should they work hard when they get penalized for it. This tax plan will have dangerous repurcussions for everyone involved. I never understood this line of thinking......punish the people that have gone to college or worked really hard to achieve what they have. Typical liberal thinking! Truly pathetic!

Unfortunately Jennifer, I have to disagree with you. It's disgusting, which is one level below pathetic.

Classic video. A few weeks ago, maybe that's Hussein Obama's "riding in a tank" or "windsurfing" moment. The 0bamabots are now compeletly immune to any criticism, however.

Still, it would be nice for McCain to mention it at the debate. I know the MSM will call him racist for doing it, but it's his job....

BTW, I'm a racist at Superfrenchie.com - check it out.

Greg, I don't know why you even subject yourself to SF anymore. At one time he was relevant to the enormous amount of French bashing that was unfair, but now he is just another left wing blog.

He always, I mean always, got a fair shake here. When he allowed this shithead to call me liar a million times with minimal defense (on his blog), I decided that his place was not one that I would frequent and he never spoke to me, here or through e-mail again.

All because I didn't want to stink up his blog with nasty comments that I would have been forced to do, had I stayed around.

....and you didn't think I could figure out how to respond. HA!! Reply to your 10/14/08, "Working For What?". Excuse me Mr. LASunsett, but Radiology Technician is an incorrect health-care terminology. The correct term in Radiology TECHNOLOGIST. I spent some time in college, even got an A.S. degree...not A.S.S. Even though I don't have a red badge, I am still an extremely important part of the healthcare team. After all, even YOU can't push THE BUTTON!

I stand (or in this case sit) corrected.

But beyond that, I am sure you have violated no less than 3 internet usage policies at your place of employment, to correct me. I know the time you went to lunch and the time this was posted was NOT during that time period. I know where you ate lunch and what you had. I know what kind of car you drive and that your husband paid the cable twice, for which you effectively chewed him out mercilessly.

I will not reveal to MT that you violated internet usage, but I am going to be watching you real closely from now on. I'll hang this over your head forever, because this is now a matter of public record in the blogosphere.

Tread lightly, I'm watching you closely. :)

Wait a minute ... isn't a technologist one of those people who put sub-zero temperature instruments on your skin simply out of meanness?

If I need a radiology technologist and ask for "Pattycake," won't someone take me to a padded cell?

What the hell kind of a medical advice place is this, anyway?
