Chirac Warns Iran

Click on the title for the complete NYT Op-Ed piece, via the IHT.

In a stark ultimatum, President Jacques Chirac of France warned Iran on Monday that it would face censure by the United Nations Security Council if it did not reinstate a freeze on sensitive nuclear activities under an agreement reached last November.

I don't know about you, but I would be terrified. I hope Iran realizes just how serious he is. A censure by the UN would be just absolutely devastating. If that doesn't work, I bet he would be willing to pull out the heavy artillery, a strongly worded condemnation.

If they don't realize how serious the French President is, they will soon find out that Mr. Chirac means business. Oil for food business, that is.

I got news for you, France isn't going to do it, either.

One can just picture the scene.

Khameini has his TV on, they play the clip of Chirac's statement. He then gets up and goes to the fridge, yawns and gets a beer. He then heads to the bedroom, drinks the beer and sleeps like a baby all night long.
